Why does every issue have to be divided along party lines?

You know no matter which party you support the other one can be right some. I don't understand why we get caught up in it like it is a contest. A contest that could have unthinkable results. I am as guilty as anyone.

Because politics is no longer about issues, or even governing. Politics has devolved into a "blood sport" between the two major parties.

They prove Lombardi's quote, "Winning isn't everything...it is the only thing."

It is because partisanship creates a strong party for the Democrats and for the Republicans. As long as the issues are drawn along a partisan line then both parties can tell the people, who have forgotten how to think for themselves, you have to support us because blah, blah, blah. Because of this there is no reason for each respective party to really solve any of the issues. They just have to keep the division solid to maintain power.

What needs to happen is the People need to learn how to think for themselves again. They need to look at each issue and decide for themselves why they support an issue or they do not support an issue. The reasoning they use should be based on political philosophy, religion, or moral values. If this is done then people will stop following party lines when they vote and our political system will work again. Unfortunately, people just continue to believe the lies from both parties and support policies because "their" parties do, not because of any concrete reasoning on their part.

First of all, relax. This is a fairly harmless way of expressing our views without blood-shed. Not even a paper-cut in the house tonight.

Secondly, this nation has survived for 230 years with opposition, and I happen to think opposition is what keeps us healthy.

I will add, that the unthinkable notwithstanding, there are some things I think are worth fighting for. Free Speech, Freedom of Religion (and yes, that includes the freedom to not believe in evolution or global warming), and the Right to Bear Arms, to name a few.

It doesn't. That's why God and your parents gave you a brain.

I am a Reagan Republican. I am 34 years old and a dyed in the wool Republican. I could go on for days about what is wrong with the Republican party. We would drink much beer and consume much chicken as I went on about what I feel has really gone wrong with the Republican party.

So, why don't I become a Democrat? Simple. Where as I could go on for days about the Republican party, I could go on for WEEKS about what is wrong with the Democratic party.

Issues are the same way. From fiscal responsibility, to immigration, to business, to social issues, right down to the Interstate Highway System, I could point out where I feel Republicans are off and where Democrats may have a better idea. However, I am still very much a Republican.

Some of the above are right. It is the nature of the debate. It is a very healthy way to debate the issues as long as everyone respects everyones right to their opinion. When we ask a question though we should understand we have asked for their opinions and not try to remove them. It isn't much of a debate if you censor the other side.

Sorry I don't like people without morals, baby killers, gay marriage advocates, tax raisers, and giving out handouts to those who decide to be lazy and refuse to get a job. I'm sick of it. It's a contest because those with personal responsibility are tired of picking up the slack for the immoral, lazy morons of this country.

Because they don't realize that Dem's and Rep's are so much alike anymore that it doesn't matter.

One exception being Ron Paul running on the Republican ticket, though he's really a Libertarian. I believe he has also stated basically the same thing above that I've thought for years.

in part. yet for the main area a minimum of for me it particularly is a great distinction in ideology. as an occasion I being a Conservative understand that the suited way for our financial gadget to stay stable is to allow the folk run it not government. subsequently even an even bigger tax ruin will help to have an excellent better financial gadget meaning extra human beings working and that ends up in extra tax sales for the government by the starting to be numbers of tax payers. assessment that with the left desiring larger taxes and putting a cap on companies salary. even nevertheless those salary are made legally. larger taxes will in basic terms stagnate our financial gadget even nevertheless it does fulfill the lefts schedule of extra administration over the inhabitants. I in simple terms prefer my freedoms left on my own to have the appropriate to pursue what ever happiness i prefer as long because it particularly is not against the regulation. you won't manage to tax a rustic into prosperity. that is like a guy status in a extensive bucket attempting to improve himself off the floor by pulling on the handles. it particularly is impossibe and socialism has been tried many cases and has not labored interior the previous and could not paintings now. the different enormous divide seems to be what the biggest enemy to usa is. Republicans as an entire think of its Islamo Fascists who use terrorism to purpose and break individual freedom and replace it with slavery to their moon god Allah. some democrats call this not something extra advantageous than a bumper sticky label slogan (John Edwards) even nevertheless those radicals have attacked many countries and killed 10's of hundreds in the process the final 40 5 years or so. on the different hand the Democrats prefer to guard us against climate replace and picture they might administration nature by battling the form of industrilized society. Terrorism is genuine the reality that guy is inflicting maximum of global warming is a theroy. We in simple terms would desire to verify what's extra considerable i assume.

Of course it doesn't have to be divided along party lines, one just as to look at Rudy who is a presidental candidate running on the republican ticket. Pro-choice and believes the government should fund abortion. Pro-gun control. Not opposed to gay marriage.

You are right. People should do a better job of thinking for themselves. Both sides have good as well as bad ideas.
