If man was made in God image how come God has trouble forgiving people?

All through the bible there are times when man upsets God and God has to do something dramatic before he can forgive them. If we're made in God image how come humans are quicker to forgive then God?

Update:

Here are some examples of God doing something dramatic before can he forgive

The Flood killing the entire population of the planet is pretty dramatic.

Having to have his son killed before he could forgive mankind

Jonah and the sea monster

Israelites forced to wonder around the desert for 40 years

If you really look at the bible you can hardly describe Yahweh as a loving and forgiving god. Would that personification be accurate for a Deity that is jealous (see 10 commandments) would f with somebody's mind ( see Abraham offering his son as a sacrifice if that isn't child abuse) condones the slaughter of innocents (see passages where complete residents of cities are killed women children etc) condones capitol punishment for minor offenses (picking up firewood on the sabbath, Lot's wife looking at the fireworks taking place in Sod em and getting turned into a can of Morton salt,????? What about making the ten commandments including the law "Thall Shalt not Kill (murder) then when Moses saw a bunch worshiping a golden calf his men ran the sword through men women and children. Luckily god made a carbon copy of the 10 commandments because the first copy was broken.

Whoa! God always forgives the first time He is asked. If you'll look at the stories you're referencing, you'll see that it took (in the old testament) a dramatic event for the people to repent. As soon as the people repent, God forgives. There is never an instance when He doesn't (or didn't).

God is an amazing forgiver. For all that humans have done to each other and to God and His creation (wars, pollution, hate crimes, jealously, racism, rejecting God, etc.), God in response has continued to be there for humans. If God was not good at forgiving, He would've blown this world to pieces years ago! God is extremly slow to anger and is even quicker to forgive. Why does God do dramatic things to His people in the Bible? God knows a life with Him is the best life possible. He does dramatic things in people's lives to help them return to Him. These acts are done in love to help the people return to a close relationship with God. In this close relationship with God, God lavishes love, peace, joy, and blessings upon His people. I would say God does dramatic things not as a precursor to forgivness, He does them to help His people return to a close relationship with Him. Quite a loving act to help people return to a better life even though they openly pursue other unfulfilling things to find peace, joy and love. If God were unforgiving, He would step back and allow his people in the bible to continue to chase every unsatisfying thing and never do anything about it. Instead, God is continually pursuing us (and the people of the bible) to give us (and them) the best life possible and this life is found with Him.

Another case of having eyes and not seeing. Where does God not quickly forgive those who humble themselves, repent and seek God's mercy. Case after case in the Bible people would seek God's mercy and He would forgive them.

Consider Ninevah, a great city in Assyria which was renown for their cruelty and barbarism. God was preparing to destroy them but when the were confronted with their sin they repented and asked God's forgiveness. In response, God forgave them and turned away from His wrath

You mean like that God? Continuing reading and pray that you be given eyes that see and ears that hear.

We are made in His image. We are naturally flawed because of our original sin. Think about it like this. A murderer and rapist go on trial. The judge tells him he is forgiven but must still pay for his crime. The murderer and rapist thinks that because the judge is a "good and just man" he would see through his transgressions and let him go with a heartfelt appology. You might hear a judge reply to this with "You are right about one thing, I am a good man. And is because I am good and just that you must be punished for your crime". Same applies with God. God does not do something dramatic before He forgives them. Instead, He makes them realize what they are doing in hopes they will repent of their ways and come back to him.....

I am not sure where you find support for your premise that God has trouble forgiving people. In fact, the opposite is true. For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that WHOEVER believes in him shall have eternal life. (John 3:16) We must make the choice to accept forgiveness through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. If we don't then God cannot forgive us. Not his choice but our exercise of our free will. If we believe, we live for eternity with God, if not we live forever in Hell. The choice is yours.

I see no connection between "made in God's image" and "God has trouble forgiving people." Actually God doesn't have trouble forgiving people if the truly repent, but sometimes they won't repent until something bad happens, and some people still won't repent.

Because God cannot sin, and man 'made in the image of God' ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge and became inherently evil.

Since then, we continue to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge.

John 3:16 is often cited as proof of God's unconditional love, but to the contrary, it is very conditional. Eternal life is only given to those who believe in Jesus.

I can accept that, I believe in Jesus.

    Read Numbers 14:11-23.

Thinking about the ten commandments being broken, they were not only broken by Moses, but the people broke the ten commandments as well.

You shall have no other gods before me.

You shall not make for yourselves a carved image.

    You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not covet your neighbors wife, his maidservant, his man servant.

I infer "all through the Bible" to refer to the Old Testament. Prior to Jesus' death, the Jews' sin could only be atoned ("covered") by the blood of sacrifices -- and only if the sacrifice was done willingly, with the true desire to repent. Frequently, the Jews disobeyed God's laws and brought unacceptable sacrifices, or offered them without the true spirit of repentence. These sacrifices were unacceptable to God and consequently, no atonement was granted.

Gentiles also rebelled against the terms of the Noahide covenant. Their only means of atonement was repentence which they frequently failed (or refused) to do.

AlAll this was changed with Jesus' death. God now promises that anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved and their sins forgiven, never to be remembered again.

You are obviously not understanding something. If you pray for forgiveness God will forgive you. We are not quicker to forgive. Where in the bible does it say he does something dramatic to forgive us?
