instead of voting for third party candidates who don't have chance to win why don't voters...?

vote for one who does have a chance! we have all accepted Nader will never be president but every time he runs valuable votes are taken away and given to him! And if any independent runs the same thing will happen! in a since it takes away a lot of people who may have voted for a democrat! so why vote independent, or for the unlikely man, is it simply to prove a point?

So what your saying is, forget that it should be an open system with different ideas.. and that you wish to further set in stone, with no hope of ever changing , the two party system.

You cant expect a third party candidate to get put in as president when most people are too lazy to participate in local and state governmental awareness and vote in good third party candidates there.

When more good alternatives to the current binary party system are in local governments.. well those are the representatives and eventually senators and president will end up coming from.

That is unless someone says forget it they dont have a chance to win.

A true vote. A vote for the best person for the job (the way it should be done). Is not the way most people vote.

They want to feel that they somehow Win Win Win.

However when the best person for the job is passed over.

    They Lose Lose Lose.

Sometimes, you just vote for the lesser of two evils because you know the person you really want to vote for has no chance to win and you know what will happen if a W. Clinton type person gets elected.

Because change will never happen like that. Sometimes you have to consider the larger picture. The only thing stopping a third party candidate from having a chance is people who think like you.

I'm going to vote for the person I want to be president, I don't want to vote for the second best person.

I'm considering voting third party in 2008 if something decent isn't up on the main parties. The front runners have a good chance of being people I'd be indifferent between - which is to say each might be equally bad. I'm going to vote populist or as close as I can come.

If everyone who thought about voting for a 3rd party candidate actually VOTED for that 3rd party candidate, instead of having the attitude that the 3rd party candidate won't win anyway, the 3rd party candidate would have a chance of winning. The lesser of two evils is still evil, so if you're inclined to vote for a 3rd party than DO IT!

It's because people have to stick to their beliefs! You can't vote for someone you don't agree to run your country even if they do have better odds.

I'm Canadian, and I vote for The Green Party, statistically they won't win. But at least I have a voice and my opinion is being heard. I'm not a hundred percent sure how American government works, but my vote gets The Green Party more seats in Parliament, where they can do so something to help my country.

Shhhhhh...don't let the leftists hear you! They might figure it out. I'm a lifelong Republican and I'd donate to Nader's campaign every time. Heck, with any luck at all, maybe Kucinich will stage a third party campaign and take all the anti-war freaks with him.

EDIT: Lindsay, I don't how to break this to you, but Canada does not have proportional representation. If the Green Party candidate doesn't win his riding, your vote does squat for the party's representation in Ottawa.

in simple terms depart out the worst of the biggest events ---- yet do vote..... The labour govt can't be depended directly to do the impressive element even at this late hour. .... have you ever not seen how underhandedly they recruited Harriet Harman's husband for a secure seat ? Why ought to they not be right away approximately it ? this is not what you be attentive to yet who you be attentive to.. a minimum of one female has been conned into working for the occasion and dumped the final minute. ....

Because it doesn't matter who you vote for. The bottom line is that Special interests groups & lobbyists control US Govt. not US voters or the politicans they vote for. You tellling a guy like Bush makes any decision on his own without some special interest/lobbyist/Think tank telling him what he should do?
