There are inexpensive first aid kits already assembled that you can purchase but since you asked for an "emergency" kit here are a few ideas besides the first aid kit. You need a flashlight, battery cables, water, flares, a tire iron, some basic tools, a pair of good work gloves, a blanket, especially in the winter, a couple of wire clothes hangers, some extra hose because these break constantly, and a AAA membership

only go purchase a typical emergency kit from walmart and toss an old cellular telephone that still holds a charge in there to boot. you will choose the kit and a backup thank you to dial 911 as old inactive telephones are nonetheless able to dial emergency numbers.

  • Jumper Cables, One gallon fuel container, flashlight, quart of motor oil, washer fluid for removing Ice and snow, ice scraper, fix a flat, distilled water for drinking or adding to motor, flares or reflectors, small tool set. Note some of these items would depend on weather, climate, region. Other items would depend on skill and knowledge of you and your vehicle. A small air compressor with the ability for jump starting you vehicle would be nice, some have a light and flasher built in. You do have to maintain a charge in these units. In the winter you would need a shovel in case you get stuck. A small container of salt and sand will get you moving on Ice. Candles and a blanket if you get stranded.

I suppose you are thinking of first aid but i can't advise you on this BUT a strong rope can and does save lives.Bear in mind too that a long rope can be made shorter but a short rope cannot be made longer. Skills in tying knots are essential to using rope to the fullest potentiality. a hand Ax can be very useful. I, myself always keep strong chain under the seat of my truck. It can be invaluable in a emergency situations.
