Texans Only.. Where is a good site to look for a place to live in the San Antonio area?

Schertz is still a nice place to live (my in-laws live there), if you haven't been in a while you will probably be shocked at the growth.

For overall convenience, I think that the NE side is still the best area to live in. If you are looking to rent, and not a big place, anywhere between 281 and 35 inside of 1604 should be a good starting place. You could then expand out to the Schertz area.

All of the places that the others have mentioned a really nice but there is two areas that they didn't mention. The didn't speak of the south side, When you left here that wasn't thought to be that great but now it is highly sort after. Toyota has built a very large plant there and are going to add to that by about 3/4 more.

My favorite is the far west side near Sea World, this is one of the fastest growing areas in San Antonio. Off of Potranco there is a New HEB Plus the second in San Antonio, We have a new Sam's store under construction and a Super Wal-mart, there is Washington Mutual, City, and Micro Soft coming also. Close by are Government Canyon and Medina Lake a short distance from there, Some of the homes in the area will start at about $100,000 and go up from there but there is plenty of rent houses available. You would be a short distance from Wilford Hall Medical Center. To top things off you can be down town San Antonio in less than 15 minutes. Congrats on retiring, good luck and God bless

Although Schertz has changed since the 60's alot, I'd still say it's a nice place. If you are looking for something close to San Antonio with a smaller community, I'd say Bandera. While not a suburb of San Antonio, it's close and quiet. I have some property in the Holiday Villages community. If you are interested in the area, seek for it online...it is right off of Lake Medina and if you are still interested, it is for retired folk, there is a realtor building who is selling. I would also like to sell, but because I would like to liquidate and move to the Corpus Christi area. I also have a home in San Antonio, near the airport, lovely area, very quiet neighborhood, but the area has grown so much that upon leaving the neighborhood, it can get quite noisy and bold, I would like to give it up also, but to someone who would like to live around the hustle and bustle and still try to get away from it all. dont know a good site but ive lived in the SA area most of my life (moved away last yr i want to go back so much!) i lived in schertz and cibolo but r very nice u said you lived in schertz in the 60s. its just a nice place not too small town and you don t have to be right in middle of the city but near by :) plus theres everythings on 1 street practically, blockbuster, fastfood, H-E-B, gas, oh and have you ever been to the Texas pecan and candy factory? BEST HOMEADE ICE CREAM EVER!

San Antonio has grown so much and getting to the size of San diego...I think if I was retiring Canyon Lake might be a choice, as its growing too...Lots of retirees and its beautiful. We live in Seguin in the countryside..Its starting to grow also...We are about 40 min from S.A..Alot of people from San Antonio and New braunfels are moving out this way because they are getting hemmed in by traffic and people. a little bit more at ease out here..On the outskirts..We are about 5 min from town....Pretty where we are at..and Land is cheaper....Hope this helps

After a lot of research and thought, and living in SATX for a few years, my son just bought a very nice place in Windcrest.[NE SATX] Plenty of shopping- very convenient, and otherwise a nice, safe and quiet neighborhood.

There is an apartment house up the street from his home that ought to meet your requirements.

It's not too far from Randolph AFB and from Fort Sam, and a short drive to Wilford Hall, so you get easy access to those places. Also, it is bordered on one side by IH-35 and on another by Loop 410 so you can get into town easily.
