Does anyone have the same problems I have??

I've had laptops for a year or two and have always used mice, some wireless and some wired. This is my problem. I always have to buy a new one (every month or two) because the one I am using just stops working. I'm careful with the mouse and the receiver if it's wireless but the damn things quit! What are your experiences with laptop mice??

Update:

The first thing I check are the batteries. If that doesn't work, I blow out the mouse in an effort to remove any dust. If that's a no go, then I hit the thing on the table to try and get it to work. I think I've gone through about 7 or 8 in the last year. I have purchased mice from $20 to $70. They all crap out on me in a short period of time.

I agree with the one who told me to buy a corded mouse. They do last a little longer.

Thanks for your help!

Yes indeed...go with a corded optical mouse. I know it's annoying...but you'll thank yourself for it.

I sell computers and computer accessories to people daily...and you'd be surprised how many people tell me that their mouse stops after "x" amount of time. Wireless mice are pieces of junk, usually. Have you checked the battery life on it, though? Some don't have battery indicators, and they lie about the "6+ months battery life". Try about a couple of weeks to a month for some versions...

    Never had a problem.

Could your mouse have become dirty? If wireless, does it have a bettery and could that have gone bad? If rechargable, did you put it back in the base?

I've had a wireless mouse for over 5 years and it's still going strong.

May not be the mice at all. There are many a times when it is simply your computer being stubborn and deleting the drivers.
