How do I become a Top Contributor?

The more you answer in a particular category, and the more Best Answers you get (not the percentage) the more likely you are to get a "top contributor" badge next to your name, up to 3 categories. Levels, and points have nothing to do with it. I have it for answering in Yahoo 360 and Yahoo Answers categories, neither of which am I on the leaderboard, but I have been answering alot of questions in these categories recently. I do lead the category DIY and I do not have "top contributor" for that category, but I haven't answered much in that one for a while.

I think it has something to do with the number of questions you answer in a certain category. Maybe, for example, you have to answer 100+ questions in Computers and Internet and then you are awarded Top Contributor.

I found on Yahoo Answers that even one TC does not know how he bacame one!

Also many are asking this Q. Why bother? Just go on. I think if you ans in any 1 category only, it is easy.

I am a top contributer, but havent got the foggiest idea how I got that label, you can have mine though just tell yahoo I don't care to much for labels anyway, and gladly give it to you

Most of top contributors are in level 6 or level 7 and have answered many, many, many questions. I didn't get my "top contributor" status until this weekend when I hit level 6.

Just keep answering a lot of questions in the same category and you'll make "top contributor."

you become a top contributor by contributing a lot to a certain subject by asking and answering questions, i don't think it has anything to do with best answer because as you say i have seen people with low percentages, i answer a lot of questions in yahoo answers and i received mine on Monday, i haven't answered that many though, about 700 altogether, its because most of them are in one subject, so find a subject you like and answer loads of questions, you'll get one in no time, hope this answers your question♥

I just answer as many questions as I can to the best of my ability and I have one...I think it has to do with the number or percentage of best answers in a specific category.

ive had 41 best answers in the category: Yahoo Products.

Well hmmn. I'm assuming, you have to get above a certain % then maybe they upgrade you to "Top Contributor"? I think that would be answering a lot of questions as well getting a lot of best answers. Hope that works for ya. :-) gl
