How comfy is a Southwest Air flight?

Are the seats really crammed together? Are their planes nice or old and crappy. I have a terrible fear of flying and am taking my children on a flight from PHI to FLA. I want to know that to expect.

I am also scared of flying as well. I have never been on Southwest but I have put plently of my friends on there and they have never had anything bad to say. You need to make sure that you get to the airport atleast 2 hours prior to departure. You should be in A section because of traveling with children but I would also advise the airlines that you not a good flier. They are really good about talking to you throughout the flight and making sure that you are comfy and doing ok.. Also make sure to eat before you get on the flight. I get nervous when I fly and don't eat and then I get sick because I an scared and hungry. So make sure to eat and try to relax. And remember the first and the last 15 mins are the most scarey.. Once you are in the air and level it is clear flying from there.. Have fun..

In my experience they're kind of low budget. I have flown from Phoenix to Albuquerque. I remember crappy snacks and drinks. At least it's a full size plane. I've flown on those dual propeller planes and they're really bad.

In regards to your other question about keeping the kiddo quiet, I say 3 things. Smarties, Suckers and rasins. The suckers will help with the pressure if it hurts the ears. The others are my daughter's favorite treats. I take tons when we travel.

It really depends on the plane you get. Some of them are older and a little more uncomfortable. The newer ones are more comfortable. You *might* be able to get on earlier than others since you have children. I can't remember. If you do, they have some seats that face each other and that will give you some more leg room if you put your kids across from you.

    It's ok.

I prefer JetBlue or any other major carrier over Southwest.

People flying on southwest tend to be a little "trashy".
