It is claimed that a bad diet is as bad as smoking. So take your chances on which one you want to do or be brave and do both.

My mother watched her diet and didn't smoke. She ate the right stuff, exercised, and did all that she should have done. My dad had one heart attack after the other, smoked almost all of his life, didn't watch his diet (even though he was a diabetic and was on insulin twice a day, with diabetes running heavily in his family). Guess who passed first? My mother! Neither one was obese. My sister, on the other hand, was obese and ate all the wrong stuff. She never smoked, and passed away from heart problems and diabetes. So, I think has a lot to do with family history. My other sister smokes and drinks and has gotten somewhat pudgy and she's still walking around. So, in answer to your question, I would have to say both are equal. I don't want a can of crisco around my heart, so I try to eat well. But, my family history isn't too good, but, the ones that have lived the longest are the smokers.

DEPENDS: some people smoke and are predisposed to lung cancer and are dead in just a year or two...others smoke into their 90s. Some people are born with a predisposition of having naturally extremely high cholesterol and/ or high blood pressure...others, nope. Some are fat and eat bird food, others are skinny and eat pizza and fries every day and still lose weight. It isn't nice or fair, it just is that way.
That said, a really bad diet will kill you faster, generally speaking.
Then again, you could be perfectly naturally skinny, eat right, exercise, jog a couple miles a few times a week,,,and get killed by a distracted driver while jogging home from the health food store.

Smoking is much worst for you than a bad diet.
Aside that smoking will give you a bad odor, it also has long term effect on you. Lung cancer and other bad things that might not be reversible or can not be cured.
For a bad diet, it is reversible and can be cured by assessing your nutritional food intake and a regiment of helpful exercises.
NOT ONLY THAT, SMOKING WILL CAUSE YOU MORE MONEY IN YOUR LIFE THAN A BAD DIET.

Smoking is definitively worst , I had an uncle and a friend die from cancer of the lungs after the hole life of smoking , the death is agonizingly painfully because it is so difficult to breath , the lungs fill up with fluids and the cells can not dissolve the air and then you die ..... Diet on the other hand even if is only rise and water ,sure you will die from mall nutrition and hunger but you can not compare it with the pain of lung cancer from smoking !!!

Just to be different, I'll say bad diet is worse.
If you have a healthy eating regime, your metabolism will work at a good enough rate to help get rid of toxins.
Either way, we're all going to die of something, so you might as well do whatever makes you happy.
It's better to die happy than to deprive yourself of the things you enjoy and spend your life being miserable.
