What is a "Cardiac Cocktail"?

I have angina, and two years ago, when I went to have a kidney stone laserd,I was given morphine just before they were to take me out to blast my stone.I had an attack.I couldn't breath and the pain was radiating from my chest,to my neck.It felt as if an elephant was sitting on my chest, holding me down, and I almost blanked out from lack of oxygen.

I vaguely remember what was going on around me,I could see faces all around my bed.and hear loud voices. My hubby said I had coded, but the doctor never said what happened, except that he had to administer me a cardiac cocktail..

They had to post pone the prosedure. The urologist told me later that he had to administer a "cardiac cocktail".

I don't know what this is and what it was given for.Was it my heart ? A reaction to the morphine? Need explanation of what A cardiac cocktail is, and what it is used for. No one will tell me,which makes me think they are hiding something from me..

If u had a h/o angina likelihood are that u hads a heart attack or acute coronary ischemia ( may be due to ac anxiety over the procedure ) . This could have been recorded in ECG .Morphinne is the drug of choice for pain of heart attack .Cardiac cocktail means combination of drugs like coronary vasodilater ( sorbitrate or nitroglycerene ) ,aspirine or clopidogril combination (antiplatelet drug )statin for CHO control & beta blocker ,used in ac. coronary event. And if u had angina followed by ac.coronary ishchemia these drugs wud have to be continued along with life style changes .

Here is a site that may help you. It talks about how cardiac cocktails are a combination of drugs and are the best medicines for those who have suffered a heart attack. Researchers at the University of Michigan found that the so-called fab four cardiac cocktail - aspirin, statins, ace inhibitors and beta blockers work better together than each pill does alone.

"coronary heart attack" is interruption of blood bypass to the arteries that quite supply blood to the middle. the middle muscle would not get carry of blood bypass from all the blood pumping via it. After a coronary heart attack, somewhat of coronary heart muscle dies. An echocardiogram or in many situations an EKG will instruct a tiny portion of coronary heart muscle that's no longer working. A coronary heart attack is in many situations brought about via a tiny clot plugging up the artery, or from time to time a spasm of the coronary artery. "Cardiac arrest" means the middle has stopped beating. there is not any electric powered or muscle pastime. this might take place if too plenty muscle is broken in the process a coronary heart attack. from time to time it occurs after a coronary heart attack because of the fact the middle gets off rhythm following the wear and tear (the prospect is fabulous for the 1st 3 days after the middle attack). yet people could have cardiac arrest after being electrocuted, or utilising cocaine, congenital problems with the middle, or perhaps being hit interior the chest. I think of there are various different reasons of cardiac arrest.
