yes sea salt soaks are the best thing for your piercings. its the most important aftercare..

take 1/4 teaspoon of non iodized salt (sea salt) for every 8 oz. of distilled water.

i take a regular 16 oz. water bottle. empty it out. add in 2, 1/4 teaspoons, fill it iup with distilled water and shake it up! pour it in a shot glass, warm it up in the microwave for abotu 15 seconds. then tip over on your navel for 15 minutes

do this once a day for 15 minutes at a time .. the warm water draws out the lymph (discharge) sea salt also aids in your healing process (navEl piercings can take up to a year to fully heal. mine is 9 months old and has just recently fully healed , its not draingin anymore) do it draw out the drainage, aids in healing, fights pending infections, prevents infections.

so all around its a good thing!!! sea salt and a mild anti bacterial soap like dial (small amount!) twice a day. THIS IS ALL YOU NEED!!!!!! do not use bactine! it says "Not intended for puncture wounds.. a piercings is a puncture wound) do not use neosporin, hydrogen peroxide, or rubbing alcohol, or any other ointments... just sea salt and anti bacterial soap. and you will be fine'

why you ask? oinments will block the exit holes. for the lymph to get out and develop crusties on your jewley. causing this to be trapped in your piercings possibly to cause an infection..

peroxides, alcohols, all promote scar tissue development, gicinv you a greater risk for keloids. which need to be surgically removed, also it kills all of the GOOD tissues and bacterias which are tryin to help HEAL your piercing.. thus causing you to have a longer healing duration

all in all all of these are too strong of chemicals for such a lovely piercing.. any piercings. these products shoudl NEVER EVER be used!

yes! saline solution helps heal the wound faster. It won't stop infections though, so you need to use ear piercing antiseptic as well (because anything else is too harsh, and will harm your piercing..you can get it at any place that pierces ears). Never use peroxide to clean your piercings, it's too harsh.

A navel takes between 12-18 months to heal fully. Make sure to wear hipster jeans (to keep the pressure off the piercing). You may get infections in the navel from time to time, do *not* remove the jewellery, you need to drain the infection. If you get infections, buy yourself some alcohol swabs from the chemist and just wipe them over the piercing twice a day. That will clear them up.

When the piercing is nearly healed, you will most likely get a blood blister at the entry (or exit) sites. It will heal.

    good luck!

Saline solution is the same as sea salt solution. Not to be confused with contact lens saline (it contains many other chemicals which aren't good for piercings)

Yes, it's the best for aftercare, and all you need. (and it's cheap, pick sea salt for about $1/lb at your local grocery store)

    You trusted them to

    do your piercing..

    Saline is actually a

    very good way to keep

    things clean, plus it

    does keep down the

    bacteria. Many dentist

    tell their patients to use

a saline rinse, to help heal

    their mouth and gums, after

    a tooth has been pulled.

    Naval piercings heal pretty

easily, not too much to worry over.

saline is the best thing to use for piercings. a home-made solution preferably. the association of professional piercers has some great aftercare tips that nearly all reputable piercers go by.

Well shops don't usually suggest something that isn't safe. If it doesn't work for you personally then try a wash made my Band Aid Brand called Hurt Free Antiseptic. It's in a blue bottle and works wonders! My piercer suggests it and it doesn't take much use to clean well. If you really aren't sure, call the place you had it done at, they can generally answer a question the best.

If the place that you went told you to use it, then use it. Don't question what you are told by the place that did the work. I don't understand why you are asking this question if this is what you were told. I'm confused. Is it so hard to follow instructions? Saline solution is pure, they obviously want you to make sure that you are using purely clean water on the spot to keep it from getting infected. It's not all that hard to understand.

HI, I used saline but maybe you should try the bactine idea. Mine had a hard time healing and I took it out.

Saline is just salt water is salt is a natural healing regime. I would use it, it would make the healing process faster..

I used a mixture of sea salt and distilled water. I soaked it in that for about 5 min a day for the first couple of weeks. It worked. My navel wasnt sore and it didnt get infected.
