Bangkok for 2 months?

I'm going to Bangkok for 2 months in April and will be with my pregnant wife and 9 month old son. I realise it's going to be really hot this time of year but are there any areas worth seeing that are baby friendly and about an hour by car outside of the city? I'm looking forward to our trip but we don't want to be stuck in the swealtering city all the time.

Good luck. Bangkok will be very uncomfortable that time of the year. But I suggest to go south to Koh Samet Island. It's a small island 11/2 hour car ride from the city. Its a pretty little island. I hope they have dealt with the trash issue though. There are nice small bubgalows and walking to the other side is very quiet and beautiful. If you walk directly across it takes about 1/2 hour you will run into this small cove. There it;s like your own personnel swimming pool. I left my sandals on and let them keep my feet up at the water line. Floating here was very relaxing and nice. The food is very good. The huts have nets but I always bring one for just in case. Coils are also provided. There isn't much else to do but relax and swim and read.Make sure that the day you go isn't some special holiday else finding a hut will be hard. Sure you could always go to Patteya beach but the scene there is wild and sometimes, usually dangerous. It's a port stop for military ships so the bar girls follow them around. Not a good wholesome atmosphere at all. There is a beach nearby to excape the madness but it's a hustle scene there. You can however go to another beach around the bend of the bay thats quiet and free from the madness. Going North to Chiangmai is a very relaxing time. You can do all sorts of activities and enjoy the wildlife. I suggest going by train. Its very relaxing and you can really sleep. Unlike the bus system. Stay off the buses at all costs. They are deadly and scary. Take the train or fly. I like the train. There you will find a much more peaceful city however it is getting bigger all the time. Its easy to go up into the mountains and see the elephants paint pictures( amazing) and ride the river, bungee jump ,hike, see the zoo and chill out. The food up North is great and the city very nice. It's built around a wall and moat so getting your bearing is easy. It has pleanty of good hospitals which in your case is important. It's a one hour flight however. But it is worth the trip. It,s more family friendly.Make sure you have Travelers insurance. You must have insurance. Have a great trip!

Hi, will you be in Bangkok only? Cause the city will be hot at this time for sure.Though the rainy season is expected from mid-April, this will only make the place more humid. As suggested by a previous poster, maybe you can consider traveling to Chiangmai.

For a start, you can have a look at Thai tourism website at http://www.tourismthailand.org/ for information on attractions in Bangkok. Though I do not see anything that will suit your son's interest unless you want a trip to Safari World to have close encounter with the animals up close, or Siam Water Park to cool off in the heat, or visit the largest indoor marine aquarium at Siam Water World in Siam Paragon. But these would not last your 2 months stay.

You might want to consider visiting other places in Thailand. Beach resorts down in Hua Hin or Cha am may be a good consideration. You will know why the locals like to go there. Even to Phuket or Koh Phi Phi in Krabi. Nice place to relax in.

You can consider a stay in Pak Chong up in northeast Nakhon Ratchasima. Here you will find a number of vineyards so the climate will be slightly cooler than most places.

Well, you can write me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com with your intentions for your stay in Bangkok and I will see if I can help work out a possible plan for you.

Meantime, do have a nice holiday.

    kanchanaburi

also try the ancient city in samut prakan

    and the crocodile farm

    and the royal rose garden

try to leave the city b/f 7 am to beat traffic.

personally i like the city (but love out country too) and kept saying today, 'it's not hot at all"

(it was 99 F and heat index of perhaps 110)

But i did go jogging...eat light and cover your skin of course.

don't do tank tops like the other silly farang.

have fun, sabie sabie mai pen rai jai yen yen

keep smilin' it helps your heart too.

keep a sense of adventure; ride motorcycle taxi's but not tuk tuks; make sure the car taxi's use the meter

use the phrase, 'loat, die mai?" to bargin; take some basic Thai lessons...and smile --don't forget to smile

    and don't worry, be happy.

but watch ouit for pick pockets on the skytrain

    buy a monthly skytrain pass

or subway too...and the buses are just fine. And cheap -- eat food sold on the street it's more tasty than fancy resturants but make sure it's cooked to order not something that has been sitting around. Fruit carts are stocked with tasty fruit all for 10 baht

    try Issan food

    go to the malls

    see movies

    have fun

write to me privately if you want more ideas.

Visit the waterfalls in Nakon Nayok, about 45 minutes from Bangkok. It is towards the mountainous region of Khao Yai National Forest with lots of trees and crystal clear rivers.

See www.visualthailand.com which is Thailand's only advertisement free website with 1000's of current photos, stories and places to see and do while you are here

I would recommend to go to Rayong, Sattahip

There has a place like Tiger park, Sea, etc.

Check with your hotel information, how to go to Rayong. Yes, it's about 1 hour driving as you required.

Have a good trip in Thailand.
