Anyone from the 1 to 4 seed in the Western Conference could be the victim of an upset in the First Round of the playoffs. Possibly the team that gets the #3 spot in the East, either Tampa Bay or Atlanta, could also be golfing after the First Round is done. It's not all that likely that anyone in the Eastern Conference's top 2 spots, or the #4 team, which is likely Ottawa, will get knocked off in the First Round, but Ottawa has done that choking thing before, so they might be up for doing it again this time around. But definitely Detroit, Anaheim, Vancouver and Nashville, the teams most likely to get the top 4 spots in the West, could all be on the golf course by the end of the First Round, just because the teams in the bottom half of the Western Conference are all equally as strong as the teams in the upper half of the conference. That is not so in the East, with the top 4 teams having clinched playoff spots more than a week ago from now. But, as we all know, anything can happen come playoff time, so let's just sit back and enjoy the show. Besides, we still have games tonight and over the weekend to settle who's in and who's out anyways, so the playoffs shouldn't be talked about just yet because not everything is fully settled.

The Devils. As a team they are horrible even strength. Their best player when it comes to +/- is Gomez with + 6, and most players on the team have a negative plus minus. I was at the game tonight where Brodeur broke the record, and two of their goals were powerplay and the other was a lucky shorthanded goal off a bad play by Geoff Sanderson. Don't expect the Devils to get so lucky in the playoffs with bad passes or powerplays.

yeah...the Pens goalie doesnt suck. hes great, but his defense sucks in front of him. They allow well over 30 shots a game. He cant stop everything. The upset that comes to my mind is the Red Wings being upset by Calgary and possibly the Preds losing. The Pens faceoff against the Sens in the first Round and the Pens are going to be 3-1 over them after tonight. Roberts, Recchi, Thibault, and the coaching staff are experienced in the playoffs. Rookies can still do well, so dont count them out. Jagr in '91, just to throw out a name there and Malkin and Crosby are going to pass him up. So dont count out the Pens just yet. Id like to see the Devils lose in Round 1 or Round 2 because Lou is a dumbass. GO PENS!!!

Should Atlanta hold on to win their division, they will be upset by whomever takes the 6 spot in the East.

Detroit is the 2nd most vulnerable team to an upset. Either Calgary or Colorado match well against them.

As a Sabres fan, should Montreal end up with the 8 seed, I'm a bit nervous.

New york rangers simply because they suck. Although honestly, im not so sure. Pittsburgh like the other girl said because idk..i dont think they have much experience in the playoffs and we all know things get a lot tougher. Maybe crosby will be able to survive..just not sure about the rest of the team.

Thrashers, because Tampa is 5-2 against them in the regular season, Holmquist is playing sick lately (watch highlights of all his saves in the last 2-3 games) and Tampa's D has steped up with the aquisition of O'Brien, Stewart, and Ward.

My LONG SHOT upset, the Ducks. The regular season series between them and MIN is 2-2 with ALL games decided by 1 goal. I think over 7 straight games, MIN defense wins out. Plus they X factor, MIN is in MIN, the Ducks are in Cali lol.

    The Flames.

    #1 They suck.

#2 They don't have a good enough team to battle with the Red Wings this time around. (I know they beat em in 04)

#3 They don't have enough depth up the middle

#4 THIS IS NOT THE SAME TEAM FROM '04!!!!

#5 Tanguay's gay (can't spell Tanguay without the gay!)

#6 Kipprusoff's coke dealer just got busted

    #7......on and on and on....

I don't really think Pittsburgh would be an upset, especially since they will probably open on the road vs. a higher seed. Tough to say with so many match-ups TBA but if I were a Detroit fan, I would be leery of Calgary with Iginla, Kipper, Phaneuf and company coupled with the fact that their top 2 forwards are known to pull the houdini in the play-offs.

I would rather face Dallas or maybe Minny if I were them. Calgary is built for a play-off upset. I still wouldn't be surprised if the Wings won but that is my early upset. As for the rest, let's see who plays who. Buffalo would IMO beat Montreal but might have a little trouble if it ens up T.O.

Wait a couple of days for this question.

Source(s): Once again to the poster above- the Thrashers could be a #6 seed and TB a #3 seed so it might not be an upset. Actually, TB probably will win the division.
