What is going on??..Any vets that can help??

Ok. So I brought my puppy to the vet because of those bumps on the tips of his ears. The vet gave me some antibiotics to give him and some cream to put on them. I have noticed that his belly is changing colors...I think it might be from the antibiotics but I am not sure. I would call the vet, but they are closed on Sundays. It's not like it's a big deal, I am just curious as to what is happening...He is gonna be 11 weeks old on Monday. His belly is turning a purplish color and it was originally white. It's not bothering him any. He is a Chihuahua and he is silver. (he looks more fawn, but he has some light gray in his coat) I was thinking that maybe his skin is just changing colors since he is getting older...But, again I am not sure. I think it might be the antibiotics. The one he is taking is called Clavamox. It is the liquid form because I didn't want to have to bother with the pills. So, what do you guys think it might be? And please specify if you have veterinary experience.

Update:

If it matters, the vet said that the bumps on his ears were from a common infection that puppies get. But it is more common to show up on the belly area.

I don't know about chihuahua's but male maltese tend to have some of their skin turn a purplish color as they age (and some don't). Sometimes the female's skin has light reddish brown spots. These are normal, too.

Unfortunately, I'm not a vet so I can't tell you why your dog's skin is turning purple. It may be normal or a sign (of allergies to the medicine). Call your vet as soon as you can and let them know.

Did he say it was a staph infection? That is common - not on the ears but .... Does the belly look like this is a bruise ie blood underneath the skin or is it turning grayish as in pigmentation? Puppies' skin color can darken as they age. I have never heard of this reaction with Clavamox before. You could call your local Emergency vet and ask them if they have heard of this reaction before - if they will answer you over the phone. You can also discontinue the medicine for one day and call your vet tomorrow. Yes, it would be better not to interrupt antibiotics but if you are worried pick one worry over the other. If it truly looks like bruising, I would either stop the antibiotics or call the ER.

    I am a breeder for 25 years/work at a veterinary hospital.

dont worry the spots are normall on a puppy. it means that there are going to stop growing. a dog tummy doesnt stay white there whole life. it changed color no matter what. ur puppy is not sick or nothing. like u said hes fine its not bothering him and it wont. i have a lot of dogs and when they where pups it will change colors. and yeah my tan chihuahua's tummy started to change color when he was about 13 weeks old. so dont worry nothing bad is going to happen

skin pigments change over time so it doesn't sound like it is a problem with the med the pups on.
