Songkran Festival or Thai New year is coming up (This year is 13th - 17th april 2007) ! What are you wishes?

a: Long live the King

b: United Thais regardless of their religions

c: a prosperous year in terms of economy, virtues, and spirituality.

My wish will be hoping to be there to enjoy the New Year with the Thais! However, sadly, this will not be. I do hope to go over later in the year.

My other wish will be for peace in Thailand, especially in the south.

May the Royal Family continue their care of the country and people for many more years.

May Thailand have a proper Government who knows how to run the country.

That people stop and reflect on what this holiday really is, the Thai New Year, and not just water festival.

Also my wish for the new year is that something is done to stop the violence in the South of Thailnd and we can again be the peaceful respecting country that everyone knows.

To get out of Thailand for the duration of Songkran. It has degenerated into a fiasco of alcohol overconsumption, inconsiderate and dangerous throwing of water over everybody and everything. A festival of road deaths and injuries.

It is a very unpleasant time to be in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand. Why it has degenerated into this state of idiotic frenzy is anybodies guess, but just like everything else here there pervades a mai pen rai attitude that lets the carnage continue unchecked and often unpunished.

1. Thailand gets a real freely elected government

2. The baht weakens (a lot)

3. The King is around to celebrate Songkran next year

4. Me and my girl friend gets married and her rich uncle forgives her for marrying a farang.

1) Return to full and free democracy in the country.

2) A long lasting peace settlement to the conflict in Southern Thailand

3) Long Live the King!

I wish that I could be there for it but unfortunately I can't. But I will be there for the Loi Kratong festival and hopefully also go to Surin for the elephant round up.

For peace in the whole of thailand. Such a wonderful country with great people but ...
