After 2-1/2 days, Claritin stopped being effective against allergies. What's up?

I'm sure it's tree pollen allergies, but why would it work for a few days, then completely stop working? I'm in misery!

Regular Claritin doesn't take care of all my symptoms either but Claritin D does. Claritin comes in 12 hour and 24 hour tablets, did you take them right? I hate the fact that people are abusing Claritin D and they make it hard for people with allergy's to get it for real medical reasons. Try Allegra D. I do not like it as well as Claritin D but it does help. You may need the decongestant as I do. I hope this helps it is no fun being so miserable.

claritin is the kind of drug that has to build up in your system to have the full effect. Use it for a week straight and see if it working by day 7. I have found that I get varying results the first few days, but then it really starts kicking in after that

My allergies get pretty bad every year, some seasons more than others. I take Singular and it's been the best thing for me. The shot is another way to go but it's more like treatment vs a quickie. I was getting injected once a month, yuck. You can try a different med and see if it works for you. I was on Allegra (that was good but to expensive), Zyrtec (not so much), Clairtin (yuck)....I've tried them all. It just depends on your body's reaction to the meds.

Maybe its not allergies but a cold, flu or virus.

Or maybe you have taken claritin to long and

it is not effective for you anymore.
