Surprisingly many "top selling" foods, though not on the recall list, are actually unsafe.
Any food which contains artificial preservatives like BHA, BHT and especially ethoxyquin, "animal" and "meat" by-products, digests or fats, menadione in any form, gluten of any kind and artificial colors or flavors can be considered unsafe for pets.
Some brands that contain one or more of these harmful ingredients are Science Diet, Iams, Nutro, Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Purina, Pedigree and Kibbles 'n bits (which contains hydrochloric acid).
Check out the following links for more details. It will blow your mind!
