Should Imus be reinstated?
I have just watched a news clip with the head of the Ruetger's basketball team who said they have accepted Mr. Imus' apology, they felt he was remorseful and sincere and that they (The offended people) have never called for his dismissal. The lady stated that this is indicative of a social problem that is not isolated or unique to Mr. Imus and that she hopes that sincere dialogue comes from this to improve the way we act as a society regardless of race. I think the spokeswoman for Ruetgers was very sincere when she said she hates to hear of anyone loosing their job and that she is an advocate for social change in broader terms. With such a classy acceptance of the apology, I feel CBS and MSNBC need to do the classy thing and reinstate Imus (With some guidelines and possibly a period of suspension), looking for others thoughts on this, as well as who Jackson and Sharpton think they are demanding a level of retribution not called for or desired by the Ruetgers team.

Probably right.
Imus screwed up and most believe he doesn't
really hate blacks. He apologized. The team was
offended but were adult about it and forgave him.
It would all be ok, but for the real racist problem
causers Sharpton and Jesse "Hymie Town"
Jackass. They really need to go away. Race relations
would improve overnight.

Don Imus should not have been fired. Firing Imus isn't going to change public opinion OR the way people express themselves. And I'm getting tired of people saying "rappers don't say those words with malice. rappers use the language poetically..." please... if anyone considers that language POETIC for some and not for others, than they seriously have some issue to take care of that firing IMUS isn't going to solve. If the words aren't good coming from Imus, then they're not good for anyone; black, white, purple or green. Imus should definitely be reinstated and for those who are so intent on getting rid of racism... get rid of the double standard first.

He definitely should be re-instated. He has apologized and apologized over and over.
After all, he makes fun of everyone and every situation--why should this be treated differently. He is an entertainer---I believe he is a good person that said an off-color remark. Who hasn't done this?
This man does a lot of good for humankind---what is wrong with everyone---he helps sick children--they go to his ranch--he and his wife take care of them. Probably a lot of kids wouldn't get to go on a trip like that if it wasn't for him. MSNBC and CBS should stop this nonsense and get him back asap.
Someone should put Al Shapton and Jesse Jackson in exile in a faraway land for a very long time.

Yes. CBS and NBC should be hammered for crumbling to the PC crowd so easily.
Anyone who has listened to the "Imus in the Morning" regularly know that Don Imus is no racist--far from it. Does he say stupid things once in a while? Sure he does, but then again, don't we all?
Make 'em pay: Boycott CBS, NBC/MSNBC and all their advertisers until they bring him back.

DOUBLE STANDARD
CBS is run by liberals who cater to cooks like Sharpton and Jackson.....They are both just biggoted fools who search out contreversy where there is none.....
he will be out of work for about 5 days..... he is only in trouble because he is white..... Chris rock can call us crackers and that's okay and they can call each other the N word and that is okay.....
But heaven forbid a white man say something like nappy head...wooooo
I'll tell you what when you stop calling yourselves these things and show that you deserve any respect from us I will stop calling you a nappy headed ho.....

everyone of us has views but sometimes that won't change what happened to imus, theres a lot i have to say about what happened in the imus sisuation, but for now this is all i will say they need to give his job back and suspend him. as for jackson , sharpton and anyone else who judge this man,you need to check yourself because you are not perfect yourself and belive me everyone has said things they regret they say.how is that we want god to fogive us yet some can't forgive imus so before you go and judge imus and don't forgive him ask yourself why ? because the all knowing god aready did and he forgave you to for judging imus

No. there are particular communities of folk who're honest interest while it includes making jokes, regardless of how distasteful they're. on the genuine of the record are conservatives and dealing an intensive 2nd is being white. CBS is lapping up this interest. the certainty that Letterman's rankings have larger because his shaggy dog tale purely reinforces my concepts that no action will taken by using CBS.

I'd watch for him on satellite radio. The root of the problem is selective gender bigotry - sadly it seems that it's 'OK' for males to demean and slander females in their ethnic group, but boy, nobody else has that "right". If we're all not playing by the same rules, nobody wins.

i agree with you. i don't understand why it's ok for black people to make fun of everyone, but if a white person does it it's automatically racism. i just saw a news segment on CNN about how even some black hip hop singers degrade black people and women and you never see jesse jackson or al sharpton demanding them to stop!
if anything, those two should work on improving education and lowering the crime rate.
