What's the diff between Methamphetamine, Phentermine and Amphetamines?

I am a little concerned, one of my close friends and colleagues is on a dietar/weight loss meds that is called Phentermine or branded Duramin. As it sounded a bit like Meth, the dangerous party drug I am concerned if my friend is moving herself onto a dangerous road.

1. Is Phentermine the same as Methamphetamine or Amphetamine?

2. Is it an addictive, hallucigenic drug?

Any added info would be MUCH appreciated.

    Yes - your friend is on speed...

    Weight loss drugs come in only two categories... speed and water-loss...

    Diet Pills and ADD meds are really just the legal versions of Crystal Meth and very bad for the people who take them... just ask Anna Nicole...

    Your friend should stop in to a CMA meeting and ask some recovering crystal meth addicts what they think about her pills... she'll get quite an education...

    Speedy drugs are not hallucinogens but they ARE addictive...

    When a person ends up staying awake for too long they can experience sleep deprivation (which will cause hallucinations).

    People who take "Phen-Fen" as it is called are subjecting themselves to dysphoria, agitation, heart-failure, collapsed kidneys, psychotic episodes, and possible death...

    Methamphetamine is meth but the difference between methamphetamines and amphetamines is this: Meth has an additional methyl group making it more lipid soluble so it can cross the blood brain barrier with more ease. Ecstasy is not a methamphetamine salt. It isn't even much like meth because it stimulates serotonin release while meth stimulates dopamine release. Ecstasy is not NEARLY as dangerous as meth; in fact, in most people, pure MDMA, if used safely, has no long term consequences. Crystal meth is meth in crystal form. You can get powder as well

    Drink lots associated with water. (You'll stand up for refills and trips on the bathroom. )

    Keep a small water glass, which you must refill often, instead of a sizable water bottle on your cubical.
