Which is the English dialect, accent that you like most or makes you laugh most? For fairness?

Well, I would of typed in Geordie, as I am one, and a fine twang it has, but if you deem that unallowable, then I love the Somerset accent, followed by Cornish.

As for USA accents, I suppose that I prefer the Texan drawl to the Deep South ones.

Australian is fun to replicate also.

I have a bit of a knack for doing dielects & accents, but I'm told that my Birmingham one sounds miserable.

Oh, not in quality, just that Brummy sounds miserable.

I like a good strong Irish dialect.

I can't understand the mumblings of some national accents, Brazilian is not a favourite.

I think that until I put my impersonation hat on, I shall stick to bog standard South English, sort of with a bit of Bedfordshire & Suffolk thrown in for fun.

I lived in London for a while and whenever I arrived at Kings Cross Station I was overjoyed to hear the Geordie accents of fellow travellers returning North.

Sorry I cheated but I love the Geordie accent and even more the gentle Northumbrian dialect of the people in rural Northumbria - music to the ears.

I enjoy listening to a Geordie accent, but not to a Brummie. It is the use of local dialect that reinforces the individuality of the region.

My favourite for accent and words is Scouse. Some Scouse words and phrases are obscene - if you know the Scouse language. In Penny Lane, the Beatles have a very well known phrase which would have had the song banned if anyone but fellow Scousers had understood.

If the answer was not likely to be banned, it might be worth posing as question, sometime!

Irish is not generic, you know. For instance, Cork is hilariously sing-song and probably the most outrightly funny of the Irish accents, Dublin is ugly in my opinion, but can have some "salt-of-the-earth" charm at times, Limerick is downright peculiar and I'm probably one of the few people who quite like it as well a seeing the fun in an accent from "Norn Iron" (Northen Ireland).

Outside of Ireland, accents I really like are: Jamaican, Glaswegian and very old fashioned posh newsreader English with a rolling "r".

I pretty much like all British, Scottish, Irish, South African, and Australian accents. I hardly ever hear those accents.

I HATE hick accents, like the way people from West Virginia speak. They are very different from southern accents and those people have terrible grammer. I also can't boston, new york, and midwestern accents. As far as American accents go, I think Texas accents are very cute.

I'm from Ireland (the South) and I love the Northern Ireland accent, especially Donegal and parts of Belfast. The Scottish accent would have to be my fave though!

Some London accents are also very nice.

Think it's hilarious the way soo many people love the Irish accent, I hope you do realise that we all have totally different accents here though, it's not all "top of the mornin' to ya"!! ;-)

I love to listen to the Australian accent. It makes me happy, I think because I have come to associate that accent with Steve Irwin, who was such an inspiring, upbeat person. So it always brings a grin to my face.

alreet! im a geordie nd i lurve it! aparty from ma own lovely accent i think that the scots are v.sexy! The irish make a laugh with the prouncation of things such as Status!

I aint a big fan of cockneys (sorry) i just dont like the rhyming and all that just dont get it at all!

Australian women really do it for me (the Kylie effect I think) but the Southern Irish accent is really good too.

Welsh people make me laugh - I still can't believe there is a whole country of people that sound like that.
