Any experts on camcorders? looking for a good mini-dvd camcorder?
HI, i am looking for a good mini dvd camcorder.. so many choice - i am lost. Price is not the most important issue here. Do I need 3 ccd.. Is it that much better than 1 ccd? our of 3 ccd cameras which one would you recommend (brand).. Anyone knows if leica-dicomar lens are any good? I looked at panasonic vdr-d300 vs vdr-d310.. the only difference is the leica-dicomar lenses and better image stabilizer.. Will I ever notice any difference? I will use this for home videos but I rally want to have as good of quality as I can afford.. Thanks

I've never been a fan of Mini-DVD's because they can fail easily and new media is expensive.
For your purposes you don't need a 3CCD and a 1CCD looks just fine (anything will look better than VHS).
Stabilizers do make a world of difference if it is actually a physical lens stabilizer, software stabilizers (generally referred to as some sort of "technology") do a bit but if the price difference is great don't bother with it.
If you have a Mac I would say you're an absolute fool to use a mini-dvd recorder and STRONGLY urge you to get a mini-DV or HDD camcorder. If you don't have a mac to download the movies (eaisly) you will still get better quality playing of the DV tapes, but DVD's aren't going to kill the quality by any means.
