ok so everyone of you are saying force with force..more guns is not the solution...lets say we gave everyone in america a gun..now u are going to say that there is going to be less crime??now i know everyone is still upset about this shooting..but u have to put it into more perspective and think about the country as a whole for a second..guns would start being used for issues concerning mabe personal causes..ther could actually be alternatives like security..idk..mabe a closd off campus with security and gate??you tell me

I am a collage student at the University of Utah (located in a free state), and gun ARE allowed on campus. Many of my friends carry concealed weapons to class with them every day, and firearms have been allowed on campus since the University was founded nearly 170 years ago. We even have a shooting range located on campus where the University pistol team trains, marksmanship classes are taught, and community groups hold weekly shooting competitions.
There have been zero incidents involving firearms in the UofU's history, and I feel much safer at this school than I would in a state that has taken away it's citizens' fundamental rights. If we are ever unfortunate enough to have an active shooter incident on campus, such a rampage would likely be much shorter lived than at another school were students and faculty are not allowed to defend themselves.

Think about this for a second. What would have happened if a student concealed and carried a gun to class that day? 33 people would not be dead. By not allowing guns to be carried by students on VA TECH campus, the police effectively removed any sort of defense the student had towards a situation like this and many others. They say that they can protect people and people do not need guns anymore. The cops did a great job, they really protect the 50+ victims of this crime. Put the ability to protect in the people in the best position to protect themselves. Individual people.

The US is nowhere near the highest in gun violence - we're near the middle of the list. Bad press and all of that. I remember a man in Texas killing a dozen or so people including students in a school a few years ago - with a baseball bat. Maybe if we taxed wood and aluminum to death and banned baseball bats, violence would be contained. Also, are you aware that a special tax on ammunition passed during the Roosevelt administration (the great one, Teddy) is the primary funds source of conservation for our national parks and forests?

Do gun laws work?
Lets look at facts.
Switzerland has 2 million publicly owned fire arms.
600,000 of which are assault rifles.
500,00 pistols.
every man between 21 and 32 years of age is given a M-57 assaults rifle and ammo to keep at home. The Swiss government sells there old military rifles to civilians. The Swiss can boast one of the lowest crime rates in the world and in history. So why is violent crime so rare there and very dominant in countrys with many more gun laws. Gun laws work when it is required to own a gun!!! my source is the BBC if any body is wondering. there you have it more guns less crime. look at states with more guns. they have fewer violent crimes than states that do not. it is a statistical fact. if you take away self defence the attackers gain control

Had this passed and one of those now slaughtered students or professors had had a legal gun, I believe the outcome would have been much better.
You must undergo training to carry concealed and the murderer had just purchased his guns 30 days ago and had undergone zero training. He would have been stopped!
What sense does it make to think that we are safer if we are defenseless? The police, as hard as they try, cannot be everywhere all the time. It is our responsibility to ourselves and our families to be able to protect ourselves until they can get there...

When people realize that it is their lack of moral fiber in this country that is the problem, not the gun.
people want to blame anything and everything else for the problem but themselves and look for short term solutions for long term problems that will not work.
I read a Bumper Sticker once that said:
Dear God, why is their so much violence in school?
God replied: " Dear concerned student, because I am not allowed in school".
Every since Madeline Murray O'Hare had prayer taken out of school the violence has risen dramatically, but secular people refuse to accept that reason and fabricate psuedo reasons for themselves in an attempt to justify immorality in every phase of life in this country, justifying all sorts of profanity and immorality all in the name of social tolerance when they themselves are hypocrites for doing so because they preach social tolerance but refuse to accept Christinaity.
If you preach social tolerance than you accept Christinaity, it is all the way or nothing, you don't just pick and choose what is "comfortable" for you.

How do you propose to end this "gun violence"? The gun does not perform the violence. The gun is a TOOL. People commit violent acts, not guns, knives, poison, clubs, or any other weapon that may be used to kill or maim. You see, violence will NEVER be eliminated until people are eliminated.

"I think it is very idiotic" but yet you ask the question so I must assume you have a little objectivity to open your mind and think it through. Now look up the book "More Guns Less Crime" and be ready for a shocking report on reality. It is true. If people are capable of defending themselves with firearms there is less crime. It is a fact.

Umm yeah it's not like asking someone who's in the process of shooting 30+ people to sit down and talk about his feelings in a group hug's really gonna work. The only way to stop someone like that, is force on force.
