Any Christians out there considering leaving the church?

I love God with all my heart but I had church shoved down my throat as a child. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I am finally at a point where I am considering leaving the church. I have nothing against those who are in the church but this is just a personal decision for me.

Church is full of hypocrites, we all know this because no one is perfect. What makes this intolerable for me is that the pastor of my church seems to play favorites and turn a blind eye to a lot of what is going on and some of these adulterers are ministers and deacons. Sadly, this seems to be the standard in most churches.

I AM 2 THROUGH!

Some believe that the Church Age ended years ago, so no believer should be attending a church, since the church would be under Satan's power, including the "pastor" of the church.

The folks at Family Radio believe the Church Age has ended and that the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

The folks at Family Radio believe the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

For example see the book “Time Has an End” on line at:

    http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_...

This group, whose primary teacher is one Harold Camping, also believes the Church Age has ended in 1988 and believers are to come out of the churches as they are now under the control of malevolent forces now that the Tribulation has begun. According to this group, this is why there is so much strife between and within church groups. Mr. Camping’s interpretations of the bible are highly allegorical, so let the reader beware.

See the book Time Has an End, Ch. 10:

That said, the online audio lectures at Family Radio, are illuminating and worth a listen:

    See: http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/conn...

Finally, for the offline version of the Family Radio nightly call in show, where folks ask questions about the bible to Mr. Camping, see:

    http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/conn...

I am not endorsing Family Radio’s doctrines, but one is able to learn quite a bit by listening to these materials. Just be careful you don’t swallow everything you hear in this call in show.

God says to not forsake the church. It is very important. Why don't you sit down and talk to God about this. Ask Him to lead you to the church He wants you to be. Also, all humans can be hipocrites, not just Christians. Chrisitians are sinners just like everyone else. Don't hold them in a higher position than you ought to. If your pastor is doing those things, God will take care of it. He will expose sin.

    Good luck.

Why would I want to leave the, "church of "GOD"'?

    AND,

I am not talking about this movement called the, church of God, either. I am talking about the church that Jesus built. The only way a person leaves God's church is through,

    SIN.

Of course, anyone thinking about doing this, I have a question for you; maybe two which are tied together.

If you sin, what makes you think that you well ever get the chance to repent and become redeemed again. The second question or comment is this. If you are at that stage, are you sure you were saved, or if saved, are not on the verge of backsliding?

I have met a lot of people who have left their churches or religious affiliation because they saw the hypocricy in their church or in religion itself.

If you love God, and would like to have a relationship with him, but not have anything "pushed down your throat" ... and would like to learn what it is that God really requires of you/us in order to be & make him happy, I invite you to visit your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. I know you say you are through w/ church, but this is not a church! This will be like nothing you have experienced before, I promise you that.

don't leave the church, that's just a gathering place, but you are the temple that house the presence of the Lord, and so just like you feel you need to leave, there could be one in there battling suicide or all kinds of things taht Satan throw our way to destroy us. My church is a social club, but I know the God I serve and so I return that favor and serve others. I talk to younger girls and tell them my testimonies that God helped me and it helps them. So I wouldn't leave the church, but I would ask God to direct me in what He needs me to do as far as KINGDOM work here on Earth. That's what it's about.

Who needs to be in church more than hypocrites? I suggest you start with your own heart and ask God to show you how to make a difference in your own church.

If God is truly leading you to another church, then go. But, the Bible instructs us to never neglect the assembly or the church. Be careful that Satan does not convict all of Christianity in your mind to the point that he closes your heart to God. That will make Satan very, very happy.

It's your choice. Choose Jesus who would tell you... go to church.

    LOL!!!!!!

I am not laughing at your question!!

However, I am laughing at some of the Ridiculous responses!

    Satan!!! ahahahaahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!!!

First of all you can worship/have a relationship with God in any manner that you want to! If you just want to sit quietly for a few minutes a day in meditation, or go for a walk in the park while in thought/conversation with him/her (God).

You do not need to be in a church to have a relationship with God.

I haven't been to church in years. Two pastors sickened me to that point. One was a self proclaimed Bible waving cow raising ahole and the other put the make on my then 17 year old daughter. But, I never gave up on God, and He never gave up on me.

When the "Church Age" ends it's going to be a bad place, (church) full of deceivers. We may be there already?

    You can praise from anywhere.
