To baby shower, or not baby shower...?
My partner and I both have kids, but this is our first together. I have a feeling that once the pregnancy is 'general knowledge', that there will be baby shower questions. I wondered what others thought about baby showers for non-first-time parents?

I think having children, should be something to celebrate. So I think it is a good idea to have a shower. Why celebrate just one baby being born?

I think *every* baby deserves a shower!! Every baby represents a change in your family dynamic, an incredible blessing, and an incredible reason to celebrate! I do not hesitate to throw a baby shower for a "repeat" mom, whether she is having her second baby or her seventh, and whether they are 9 months apart or 9 years apart. *All* babies are a cause for celebration, congratulation, & congregation! (Groan! :) )
Check out the website below. This is my favorite idea for a baby shower! If it has been a while since your last baby was born, this might be something you've never heard of! Diaper cakes are an adorable baby shower centerpiece, a great conversation starter at a shower, and they can even be used to play a game. Plus, they are a gorgeous and creative way to give diapers!!
Congratulations, and enjoy your baby shower!

Personally, I am totally ok with it. I know several women who have had baby showers for second, third, and fourth children.
One of the big reasons is if it's been a pretty big time period in between children, you'll probably need alot of things bought all over again. Also, if you have a girl, and are pregnant with a boy, there are probably alot of things you won't want to use again. Like dressing your baby boy in girls hand me downs, or vice versa, lol.
If you do a registry though, try not to put too many big ticket items on there, because most people assume you still have SOME things from your previous children, like a crib that you can just buy a new mattress for, etc.
I wouldn't worry too much about what people think. I'm pregnant with my first baby, and my mom (yes my mom lol) is pregnant with her 5th baby, and we are both having showers. I'm actually throwing her shower.
If anyone isn't comfortable with the idea, tell them not to come. The main idea of a baby shower, I think, is to celebrate a new baby! Nobody is obligated to bring you a gift, they can always come just to celebrate!

Baby showers are for first time parents if you both have kids then you can have a Baby sprinkle which is almost the same but much more low key more of a get together with few gifts.

I think it's a good idea. You don't mention when you had your last baby, but since this is the first for both it's a great way to have the families together! At least invite the immediate family! It's a great way to spend time together celebrating a new life coming into this world! Congrats!

Baby showers can be traditional or not it is up to the couple or whom ever is planning it. There is nothing wrong with being having children there and not being your first time, etc. Plus we are in the year 2007 times are changing and there are so many options out there for you.
Good luck!

DO IT! every baby needs items, baby showers are to welcome baby into the world and shower him/her with gifts!
no matter what number of child it is!

My mom had one for my two older brothers but stopped at me.
But last summer she gave birth to her 10th child.
Her friend threw one for her.
If its a milestone or something like that,
I would definitely have a shower.
