Chrisitans can you answer this please!?
When Noah was 500 years old, he had three sons.
(Three sons in one year? Was that with one (nameless) wife or several? - if so, Isn't that bigamy, prohibited under Chrisitan law and in the Bible?)

All it says is that Noah was 500 years old and he had children named Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They could be triplets or they could have been born in separate years and simply have all been born by the time he was 500. If you remember Abraham's wife gave him a second wife as well, so even if he had multiple wives it might have been by command of God. There can be a lot of explanations for this, so the simplest thing is just to pray and try to gain a testimony for yourself without trying to figure out things that no one knows for sure and really don't matter to you.

This is another example when the grammar of the original language didn't translate into English very well, as is so often the case. A man can be 35 and "have" three sons in the sense of possessing them, not actually bringing them into the world all in one year's time.
Otherwise, Fred McMurray wouldn't have been the TV star that he was. (Brownie points to those old enough to know what I'm talking about.)
And in those days of frequent deaths in childbirth and women dying at young ages, it was acceptable for men to have more than one wife. Many Biblical patriarchs had several wives, in fact.
Today, bigamy is a legal issue, not a moral one. There are still countries where it's all right to have more than one wife.

Noah began having Sons when he was 500 years old not all in that one year!
Genesis 5:32
And Noah got to be five hundred years old. AFTER THAT Noah became father to Shem, Ham and Ja′pheth
Whilst there is some uncertainty Japheth is most likely the oldest. Shem was born during Noah's 502nd year. How do we know that?
Genesis 7:6
And Noah was six hundred years old when the deluge of waters occurred on the earth.
Genesis 11:10
This is the history of Shem.
Shem was a hundred years old when he became father to Arpach′shad two years after the deluge.
Delude occured in Noah's 600th year.
Shem became father to Arpachshad 2 years after the duluge and he was 100 years old. Therefore Shem was born in Noah's 502nd year.
It all adds up!

The Bible doesnt talk about noahs sons until that story starts, I believe that his sons were not all the same age. It is possible that noah did have more then one wife. Jacob did. Leah and Rachel. It wasnt prohibited until after the Iseralites came out of Egypt under Moses.

I'm not sure if He had multiple wives but In the Old Testament times there was bigamy and it was not a sin Solomen had 700 wives and 300 concubines but now we are bound by the New Testament which only allows us 1 wife.
Hope this was of help,

It also might of been a style of writing not actually 1 year not positive :) Look it up for yourself!

I think you can see the 500 years part in the previous answers but as a side not the DNA evidence points to a newer male common ancestor than the female DNA shows. The female DNA points to a much older common ancestor. Just the data you would expect with the Noah account.

Ok heres part of my biography Iam 45 years old and I have 3 children. So are you going to assume they are all from differnt women and all born in the same year? What are you looking for something to make a silly accusation?
You need to read the verses Genesis 6:8" But Noah found grace in the sight of God" verse 9"....Noah was a just man and PERFECT in his generation." Doesnt sound like God was accusing him or pointing the finger at him does it?

I think Noah had only one wife. and before Jesus came into the picture, men had several wives and that was acceptable. personally, i wouldn't mind being one of several wives, it would make the housework and child rearing an easier task! which is one of the reasons multiple wives were acceptable. i'm sure some one with more Bible knowledge will answer with greater detail than I have.

The Bible says "AFTER Noah was 500 years old, he became father of Shem, Ham and Japeth." (Genesis 5:32 NIV translation) He had them between his 500th and 600th years. They weren't necessarily born the same year. Later, when God is talking to Noah, He tells him to take his wife. Singular. He only had one wife.

Genesis 5:32 says "And Noah got to be five hundred years old. After that Noah became father to Shem, Ham and Japheth."
It looks like Noah had his sons after he turned five hundred. Nothing in that verse makes it look like he had them all in the same year.
Noah had one wife, who survived the Flood with him.
