Is it just me, or do you hate how organized religions restrict women from cetain positions/activities?

Such as:

*Christianity (mainly Catholocism),

*Islam

*Hinduism

- I am asking this not only as a human being but also a follower of the Catholic faith. I find it hard to fathom that the 3 most popular religions in the world, accounting for almost half of the worlds population restrict women in certain aspects, even to the point of punishing them for just being female...just makes you think doesn't it.

Update:

RE: Mary B

in regards to christianity, i was mainly addrerssing Catholocism. I praise the leaders of the Baptist, Anglican and Presbetyrian Churches for thier equal stance regarding women.

I agree with you. It's man made (some of the religions). Some is just nasty. That's why I'm glad I could be a Christian (not catholic)

Now you understand why Paganism is the fastest-growing religion in America today. The position of women among the People of the Book is entirely unacceptable.

I am a Christian and belong to a Baptist Church and they have not held me back in fact sometimes I think I do to much. We are currently working on rewriting our constitution and I am on that committee, I am also on the trustee board, and head up a Bible Club for kids. Our Church sees the importance of women in the world.

    And some branches of Buddhism.

It bothers me as well... there is no difference between men and women except in biological differences.
