Can DDR2 PC4200 memory run at PC5400?

I am cheap and have some PC4200 DDR2 memory lying around. Can I use it with a CPU with a 667MHz FSB that requires PC5400 memory? Is there zero chance of this working or is most DDR2 ram fairly overclockable?

If the motherboard supports ddr2 400 up to 667, then you can use your PC2 4200. Most RAM will overclock but again it depends on the tweaking options available in the BIOS. Only enthusiast boards have the full tweaking menu. Higher overclocks may be attained by loosening the timings.

You can use the PC4200 ram. The 667MHz FSB specification is the maximum speed. Your ram can be slower.

If you mix PC4200 and PC5400, all the ram will run at the speed of the slowest speed ram installed (PC4200)

I don't think there is a motherboard that can make it go that high. Research your motherboard and CPU purchase better next time!!!

I think the numbers should speak for themselves, or else you will have instability in your system.
