If the couple is completely average, then I think they should have 2 completely average children. 1 girl and 1 boy.

I would think it is what you want in life. Do you want to share it with a spouse and children...is that where you find happiness? Or do you want your stuff?

I have a brother with 5 children, they would like more, but because of physical problems it is wise they stop now. Ceasarian with twins...ya know!

One brother has 2 girls, they wanted more, but little miss number 2, turned out to be quite the handful, so have decided it wouldn't be fair to another child, as it might feel neglected.

Yet, another brother, has three and that worked for them.

I, have none, not my choice. I'd have had at least 3, given the choice.

All, are well taken care of, though some sacrifices were made over the years, and still these families work. They are all comfortable (actually, very comfortable).

It's not about averages, it's about individuals and how well equipped they are to be parents, love will take your kids alot further in life than money. Does any one out there hear me?

If you can afford 6 then have 6....if not then only have 2. I have 2 and I'm happy with that. I don't want more right now because we finally feel like we're not struggling and we'd like to enjoy life with our two kids right now. Some say I'm selfish and that's not a good enough reason to not want to bring in more kids into the world. But I think it's a perfectly fine reason...what am I going to bring in another child whom I'd have a hard time affording and our lives would be unhappy. That's not fair to my new child or my other two kids or my hubby and I. I guess it might sound selfish but that's how I feel.

On the other hand...my cousin just won't stop having kids. She on her sixth...can't afford them...treats them badly because she's so stressed....they don't get enough attention and I think that's hurting the whole family! If you can't afford them don't have them! She doesn't believe in condoms or the pill...then don't have sex. LOL I don't know!

As many as they can properly take care of an afford. We're shooting for 4 but at this point I'd just be happy to be able to carry the third to term.

2 is good. I think most would. 3 or 4 if they love having a big family.

The world has a very big population problem.

2 should be the most, any more and you a now adding to the problem.

Average ? Well if there average their kids will be average ... I guess if they must go and have them then 2 is plenty ...

That depends on your financial status. I personally wanted to have four but after two it just seems that we can't afford another one.

However many they feel like, as long as they can afford them and take care of them properly.
