Helping a friend in need, what is the best way to go about it???

My best friend needs help and I want to help her but I'm not sure about how I should go about it. She seems to be loosing the plot, and hasn't been herself lately. She has told her partner (an extremely kind and loving man who would do anything for her) to f**k off and call the cops on him for trying to help her out. She has walked out on her family and has told them to never come near her again and is threatening to take them all to court for no reason. This has all happened really suddenly and we think there could be drugs involved. I am worried about her and am especially worried about her 5 year old daughter. I want to help her as she is my best friend and has been since we were kids, but am scared she will turn on me too. What should I do????

Update:

I'm not sure if she is involved with him or not, but her ex is back on the scene and he had drug problems in the past (not sure if he does now), but he was a controlling a**hole, so that could explain her irratic behaviour.

i think you should get her checked...btw is she involved with someone else? coz u know she might be getting influenced by him into giving up her family etc...

if not then get her checked..or take her for a long vacation to a beach or whereever she wants to go..where there is peace n quiet...but just the two of you...she should realise that life is for living and enjoying life..and friends n family are very important factors in it...

You need to confront her. There is obviously something very wrong. Remember, there are more people involved in this, including the 5 year old. If you can't confront her yourself find someone who is willing. Sometimes you have to lose a friend in order to save a friend. And sometimes they will be rational and listen.

First of all this behavior is questionable. You could call Child Welfare Services and get them to investigate. This will hopefully get her to take a serious look at her behavior and will create a safety net for her child. You can be anonymous.
