Of all the Candidates running for President, who would you trust most with the safety of your family?
Of all the Republicans, Democrats and all the other parties, is there one person who stands out? It's John McCain for me but, I would like to know your views, give me a reason if you would like to and maybe you can change some minds. I definately want the best person in office in 2008 election.
I think and feel John McCain has proven himself over and over, again and again that he is best qualifyed for the job, he has been open on campaingn reform and offered one time to the news media to back up the dump truck with the history of his office to prove his point for the need of reform, that proves honesty to me and a williness to meet it head on if it's to be fixed. The point I am making is how could one trust someone to protect their family if they didn't trust their ways in obtaining money in Washington? I trust McCain for all reasons is what I'm saying.
You are misunderstanding the question if you feel this is just about the protection of your front door, I wish I were able to render a nucular weapon harmless and take away the hate in their hearts of me because of me being an American. Our President speaks for each of us on these things. I feel McCain addresses my worries and I feel he would do a good job on all issues that face the office of the President of the USA.

Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee. Both men are outsiders from Washington and honest people. They actually care about our country and understand the threats that we as a nation are facing. I believe a Thompson Huckabee ticket would be a big winner. Both are conservative and honest. They maintain the same positions that they always have.

Although I believe our next President will be a Republican, I hope it is not someone who campaigns on a security platform.
Concerns about "safety" are what has kept W in office for a second term of failure to please either party, and what has sent thousands to their deaths in the Middle East.
Nevertheless, I think Giuliani will ride that same wave to the top of the heap, and to the White House. McCain does not have the respect of enough Republicans or Democrats to win, even though he reaches out to both. The parties are too polarized to pick a single winner by swing vote alone, and McCain is not enough of a hero to either side for a solid party vote. His election is mathematically possible but remotely so.
Giuliani, on the other hand, was more decisive and effective after the 9/11 attacks than the Feds, and is still revered in his party for his understanding of safety at the local level, having cut the NY crime rate considerably. A lot of transplanted NYers live in the battleground state of Florida, and like what he has done in their home State.
Rudy's ability to command a liberal city like NY could also be seen as the type of leadership Democrats would respect, which is not likely to happen for the former First Lady, or the young Senator from Illinois. All other Democrats and Republicans lack either star-power, experience, or credibility on the safety issue.
Thank you for your question. This very issue is likely to be the focus of the next President of the United States.

Without a doubt, I would trust the Hon. Senator from the Great State of New York, Hillary Clinton. Her compassion, lifelong pursuit of ensuring the best for our children and loving heart would make her a baby-sitter bar none. What this country needs is a good baby-sitter. We've had a war-mongeror and obviously that didn't work out. So, vote Hillary for a compassionate, loving and caring baby-sitter for our great country!!!!

I am solely responsible for the safety of my family.
I don't want or need a reassuring protector figure in the form of a politician.
As of late, I have witnessed politicians professing to be protectors of my family who only seeks to take away my freedoms, while catering to the needs of the rich and powerful ... all to the detriment of the hard working middle class
If the earliest American settlers constantly needed the reassurances of protectors, we would still just be thirteen colonies.

I trust Hillary Clinton totally. She is a cautious hawk that is realistic about the world situation and competent enough to make the right decisions to protect us, and to repair our damaged relationships with our Allies. She has my vote.
I like John McCain, but his overview of Baghdad, when he declared it safe while strolling through with over 100 soldiers and Black Hawks over head was a bit much. What really bothered me was that I don't think he was deliberately trying to deceive anyone, but that he really believed it. That sort of blindness bothers me a lot when I think about him being President. I think he tries to be too many things to too many people, which makes me question where he really stands on many issues.

I think I would trust Rudy Guiliani. He has a better chance of winning than McCain.

Absolutely none of them. By the time a politician has made it far enough and high enough to run for president, he pretty much owes favors to everybody, wouldn't you think? And they are all pretty much snake oil salesmen.
