Do you like this name?

How do you feel about the name Tara~Lynn?

I'm not pregnant yet, but am considering it for my first daughter (if I ever have one)

My mom's name is Carolyn and My dad's name is Terry, so I thought this was a cute and sweet way to honor them... not to mention that it starts with a "t," as does mine, so she could have the same initials as me (somewhat of a tradition in my family)

But I think it's a little hill billy sounding... what do you think... also, I'm not set on the spelling, that could be played with.

    Hi,

I think that it is a perfectly good name. Tara-Lynn is much better than naming a child "Stone", "Rock", Goldie, etc.

Of course one should consider one's husband's ideas.

Another important issue is one's feelings about the name sounding kind of hillbilly. The reference to hillbilly is an insult to most rural dwellers.

I am one of them. If it wasn't for our rural lifestyle, millions of folks would be quite hungry. Just because we live in the hills, plains, mountains, and valleys of our great country does not mean we don't have any intelligence, manners, culture, or feelings.

Some of the finest, law abiding, sincere, caring, educated citizens live in the "heartland of America. It takes more than a horse and plow to grow crops for our country and and across this planet.

There are hundreds of thousands of educated "famers". that have bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in agriculture.

There is also a need for those without degrees, that have a sincere desire to earn a living in a very honorable way. With their hands, minds, and bodies. They are the workers that help with the planting, cultivating, and harvesting those crops.

Please think about this when you are enjoying your nice fresh salad, fruit, meat, and milk at your next meal.

No offense is meant by this just a better understanding of one of the right for respect issues that exists in this country.

With my highest regard and best wishes,

    Curiosity's Kat

My Hus is a Jr and his middle name is Lynn. (I hate that name.) He wanted to name our daughter Jaime Lynn. I'm glad our child was a boy. All of the men in both of our families are named Thomas, so we kept that.

I like the T tradition, but I'm with you on the hillbilly sound. I'm not one for nontraditional names, but in light of what you are trying to accomplish, how about Terolyn.

I have a friend who was named after her parents - Charles and Kay - Kaycha (KAsha).

    Good Luck.
