I'm always so self conscious about EVERYTHING , but when i drink (not heavily) i feel so good and not all up tight...and i can finally converse without thinking what the rest of the people are thinking about me. Is that my true self coming out?...Is the alcohol helping with my anxiety? and, should i get professional help for my anxiety. It really gets in the way of my making friends...and keeping them. pls help...I'm really starting to think there is something wrong with me, but then again I know I'm a great person, beautiful on the inside and out.

I've been doing the same thing!!!! I'm 25, and yet just now I've started drinking, realizing via brainstorm that alcohol might help my ultra-shyness. To illustrate: I'm 25 and have ever been on a date or had a gf. Anyone shy-er? I think not.
So, I've drank to change my personality, and you know what? It works like a charm, but lo and behold there is a catch.
Sometimes I over-do it. I was at a club one night. Normally I would not be caught dead in a club. I'm too shy for that, but this night I went, primed and ready. I don't even remember what happened that night.
As well, my friends have said that I got so drunk a couple of times that I was spewing all of their secrets out, and as a result many friends have disowned me.
...Still others, who I have done nothing wrong to, object to me drinking as a conscience matter. Even if I drink moderately, they make up stories and say that I'm overdoing it and that I should use prescription drugs instead of alcohol to change my personality.
Since I work in pharmacy, I know that Rxs can be worse if an addiction is formed.
So.........=$0.02.

Alcohol is definitely not a long term solution. If you start drinking everytime you're anxious, and if it makes you feel better, then you will start feeling bad whenever you DON'T drink. And that will lead you to alcoholism.
Alcohol usually have this effect on everyone: you feel more confident, more at ease, social interactions look easier and more cool... but think of what it does to your organism. If alcohol consumption gives the feeling to solve problems, it usually brings much more trouble in than it solves, I assure you.
So, if this anxiety is really a problem to you, I suggest you do as you thought and get some professional help, because drinking won't do you any good.

personality from a bottle is tremendous-lame. I had a significant social phobia at the same time as i develop right into a baby. It develop into to the point the position I not in any respect uttered a note, not in any respect had a pal till eventually third grade, develop into so quiet adults were even spooked with the help of me. It develop into so extreme, the prospect of saying even a sentenced had me 'scared to demise'; too a lot adrenalin pumping in my body that made me nauseous and that i had to cry yet couldn't (had many abdomen issues as a baby thereby fairly eating and develop into too small for my age). If I had to bypass trough that back lately, i'd be despatched to a decrease and overfed Paxil. on condition that this stuff were no longer accessible then (no longer in my college in any case) I had no decision yet to conquer my social phobia. That coated a time-honored routine of operating as a lot as different children i'd not in any respect in the different case search for suggestion from, and getting laughed at, appeared at like a weirdo, given the comb-off yet finally met an astounding crew of persons as timid as me that I felt smooth chatting with. it really is like once you bypass to many job interviews and each and each and every is way less scary than the finest. It does worsen earlier it receives extra effective and that, i'm afraid is inevitable yet nicely well worth the conflict. yet you should prepare, theres no decision. and don't be disturbed about no longer being common without delay. seem, you're not any more gonna like honestly everyone you meet, so there is not any criminal responsibility on their section to attain this both. And in the journey that they are douche-luggage you'll recognize without delay and why would you wanna dangle with them in any case? So prepare, prepare, prepare, cuz possibilities are extreme you'll not in any respect even see those human beings back; what have you ever acquire to lose?

im not sure that its "wrong". whatever you think is "wrong" is really up to you to decide.
however
you did say that you have anxiety like feelings, and that you suspect you should get professional help. I agree. This is why: you have already decided that you need it and from what i hear, you recognize that your anxiety problem is "getting in your way".
So do seek professional help, and im sure they will tell you to stay away from the booze, so do so.
good luck!

When you drink, you babble and look stupid and do not realise unless someone points that out to you when you are sober. Also when you drink you become less shy and open your guard that is why you are able to open up.
This is not the right way. Do it when you are sober and keep telling yourself you are a nice person to be with and play that in your head and it will soon make you believe in yourself and help you to open up.
Good luck.
