Do you know Why Bush needs Congress to fund the war now?
Because the Republicans didn't do it in 2006.
The Republican congress that did not pass a federal budget for 2007; instead they took more days off then any other congress. If Bush wanted money they could have funded the war, but I guess vacations are more important than our troops.
But most importantly, Bush had not budgeted for the war in his federal budgets. This is so that he could present the appearance of fiscal discipline. It sure looks good when you supposedly cut federal spending, and I guess appearing to spend less supports our troops.
This bears repeating:
In 2005 the Republicans approved a bill for 82 billion loaded with pork.
In 2006 the Republicans set the record for pork barrel spending. The Republicans pork went to things like building a bridge to nowhere and building snowmobile trails.
The Democrats pork goes to help rebuild New Orleans, fund agriculture disasters, and a minimum wage increase. I guess that helping disaster victims, farmers, and poor people is bad for the troops.

Sorry you are wrong, it is not the Pork GW will not sign over but the time table. The Dems could double the Pork portion remove the time table and Bush would sign.

What George Soros book did you get that reading from ? This current bill was from a request from the military for emerg. spending for the war. The Democrats added all the other political crap on top of a spending request. They did it upfront knowing the President would veto it. They should act on only the funding requested by the military as a stand alone bill and not add to it. If the other stuff is that important, they can send other spending requests to the President separately instead of making political statements at the cost of our troops.

Hey lets just go to a consumable tax and get rid of the IRS. That way the politicians will only have money when we buy products. Open question, so you want others to research for you. You need to look at facts. You have the power of getting the truth at your finger tips.

Both parties have a looooooooooooong history of pork spending. Citing one for such a transgression isn't really a valid basis for any worthwhile point or argument.

People will die, and buildings will burn... How you turn that into "Greater Good" is your own choice... It sounds cliche, but war is NEVER the answer...
Best of luck to you friend...
