Identifying twins on songram?

Would twins be visible on a sonogram at 7w3d? Anyone had a twin pregnancy that wasn't identified by then?

My twins were seen at 7 weeks by ultrasound. I was 100% sure of my LMP but my OB said that we were checking the dates to be certain or doing a head count (the pelvic examine made her feel as though something was off). Sure enough, there were two!! Although, an ultrasound that shows twins before the 8-10 week of pregnancy cannot be certain that you will indeed deliver twins. I was told by my OB that almost 50% of all pregnancies start of as twins ans you just don't know because most women don't get an ultrasound that earlier.

True story, happened to a mom in my mommy group.

She was getting bigger than she should at the end of her pregnancy and the midwife swore up and down she heard two heartbeats. So they sent the mom off for an ultrasound... this is at 8 or 9 month pregnant. And the ultrasound tech swears, yup there are two babies. They're both fine.

So this midwife has to find another midwifery practice that happens to have a couple of spare midwives at the last minute so they can guarantee 3 midwives at the delivery.

The big day arrives, and here comes the first baby. And they wait, and they wait. Then they stick their arm up into her uterus, and you know what? There is nothing there. She only had one baby.

at 4 months Pregnant they will check for the babies heart beat and if you are having twins you will hear 2,In less one is hiding behind the other.usually when you are 5 months Pregnant is when they do a sonogram and then they will be able to see to babies.

    Yes.

I had a sonogram at 5wks 3days back in 1995 and they discovered a twin pregnancy. They noted two separate, adjacent sacs; one w/a viable embryo & heartbeat, while the other had no heartbeat: it had died, and I never did pass it; it just reabsorbed into my body.

But nevertheless, they did detect the two separate sacs.
