  • how much do you pay your babysitter?

The babysitter is 16 and will be watching my two girls - ages 3 &9. It's the first time I've used a babysitter that wasn't family...and I have no idea what the going rate is. I want to be fair to her, but the only thing I can remember about babysitting pay is what I got 20 years ago when I was babysitting. :(

  • Could these be symptoms of a milk allergy?

First, let me state that I already have a doctor's appointment for my daughter regarding this issue. I'm just curious about the experience of other Mom's.

My daughter is 13 months old. We have switched her to whole milk over the last two months. Out of those 8 weeks, I would say she's had a persistent cough for probably 5 of them... Since completing the transition to 100% milk, her stool is a soft, yellow, pasty/sticky mess. She hasn't had a solid, brown stool in 3+ weeks. She's been to the doctor every 10 days for the cough and runny nose. They told me it was viral for 2 visits, then put her on antibiotics to see if that would help.

Has anyone out there had similar experiences with their own child? Was the child diagnosed with lactose intolerance or a milk allergy?

  • What's the best way to display multiple positions at the same company on your resume?

How do you show progression/advancement through positions on your resume? I've held 3 positions (so far) at the company I'm at. When I list it, obviously, I need to show each one. But how? Do I list each as though it's a different job, and hope they notice that it's all the same company... or is there a better way?

Normally, I would list jobs like this on a resume:

    Title, -------------Company,---------------- Dates

    --job functions

Should I change it to do something like this:

    company, -------------------------------------------------dates

    ---------title--------------------------------------------------dates held

    ---------------------------job functions

  • Snow White and 7 of her friends (concrete garden 'gnomes') need to be repainted --?

Anyone know what the best type of paint is to repaint my little crew in the garden? I acquired these during the purchase of a house, and they are horribly faded and chipped. I'd like to restore life to the crew rather then dispose of them, but I don't have a clue what type of paint you use on concrete to allow it to weather the elements!

I'd also like to know how to prep them. I'm figuring a pressure washer and soap for starters, but is there more to do?

    Thanks!

  • Questions about Palm® Treo™ 755p Smartphone?

Hey! Anyone out there have the Palm® Treo™ 755p Smartphone? I'm specifically interested in your information if you have it with Verizon, but happy for any answers...

Is this a fully functional palm pilot device? I know I've seen Verizon wireless limit things like blackberry profiles to avoid people syncing pictures and files for free...so i'm curious if any of the palm features are limited. Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated!

  • Ever had a fraudulent charge on an account from bestsmartstore.com?

I'm curious to see how many others have seen the pattern that I have... If the answer to the initial question is yes:

--Did you report the charge to the creditor to have it removed?

    --Was the charge under $10.00?

--Did it happen within 7-14 days after purchasing a credit-related product on-line through a credit bureau?

--Which product? (equifax, my fico, transunion, experian)

  • Do I need to replace my carseats?

I was in a car accident last week. I got hit going through an intersection. The impact was on the drivers side, and there's enough damage so that the passenger side doors are having difficulty opening. Fortunately, my children were not with me at the time. Do I need to replace their car seats? There is no internal damage to the car - the doors didn't cave in or anything - so the seats didn't get hit, and the kids were not in them, so the restraints shouldn't have been stressed... but I don't want to put my kids at risk. I intend to call the car seat manufacturer on Monday for more information, but wanted to see what others think...

  • Mirena strings - length? softening?

Okay. I had a Mirena IUD put in on Wednesday. I was nervous after reading all the horror stories, but either have a really lax uterus or a really good doctor - no pain at all. Anyway, my question for all you other Mirena users is about the strings. How long should they be? When you go to check it, should you be able to find it really easy, or do you have to really go digging for it? I think my strings are really long. Does the length of the string effect your partners comfort level? If so, is it better longer or shorter? I've read that the strings soften with time... is that true? How long did it take?

    Thanks!

  • I need a favor from you good Samaritans out there! -- This is not a solicitation for $ -?

Okay, here's the story. All I need is for a few people to head to ebay and click on some of the clothing/craft item auctions for me. Should you happen to like something, please feel free to bid, but all I'm really trying to do is make my mom feel better about the auctions... I want it to look like there is/was some interest in them. If you wouldn't mind doing this, I'd really appreciate it.

You can get to my auctions by clicking the link below:

  • When I need to stop breastfeeding, what is the best way to use the frozen supply?

I'll have to quit breastfeeding/pumping soon. I have some frozen milk available. Is it better to give this to the baby exclusively until gone, or would she benefit more from getting a few ounces a day for a longer period?

I was thinking a small amount a day for a longer period of time would provide her with some degree of protection for longer, but I can't back that up...what are your thoughts?

  • Could sudden, excessive, hunger be a symptom/sign of early labor?

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and have started dilating/effacing. I haven't had any real issues with hunger throughout my pregnancy, but today, I can't seem to find enough food. I've been dealing with this now for almost 12 hours. It's been so bad, it woke me up from a sound sleep. In the last 12 hours, I've had the equivalent of about 5 full meals, and I've still got what I'm perceiving as hunger pains. Is it possible that contractions could somehow feel like hunger pains? Or am I just on some weird kick?

  • Pregnancy (lack of ) weight gain???

Alright, I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I've only gained 6 lbs since my first doctors appointment at 7 weeks. Yikes! My doctor doesn't seem to be worried about it, and I was overweight to begin with. I'm eating 4-6 times a day, almost anything in sight...trying to have mostly healthy snacks, but I've been known to give into a chocolate craving here and there.... Has anyone else experienced a weight gain this low? Did you have any complications as a result?

  • Obesity and pregnancy weight gain....?

By medical standards, I'm obese. I have a BMI of over 30. I'm pregnant. Everything online seems to indicate I should gain somewhere around 15 lbs. My doctor hasn't really focussed on my weight, and told me somewhere between 25-35 lbs.

I'm curious to hear from other plus size women about your experiences with weight gain during pregnancy. How much did you gain? When did you gain it? Are there concerns regarding gaining too little?

I'm currently 25 1/2 weeks. My total weight gain since my first visit ( at about 5 weeks!) is 2 lbs.

  • Can I freeze yogurt...?

Can I freeze yogurt with active cultures without killing the benefits of it? I know Bryers makes some frozen yogurt that has active cultures, but I'd like to be able choose my flavors and enjoy it as a frozen treat. I'm just not sure if the process of freezing will destroy the benefit of the active cultures... Anyone know?

  • Is Abortion every acceptable?

After reading a question about abortion earlier, I thought about a few things. I'm interested in hearing other's opinions...

Is abortion ever acceptable? What about if it's in the following situations?

    1) The women conceived during a rape?

    2) Carrying a baby would endanger the mother's life?

--What if she's already a mom of others, and has, say, cancer that needs to be treated when she finds out she's pg?

    Any thoughts?

  • Help with Natural (Finger) Nails...?

I'm trying to figure out why I can't seem to grow my finger nails on my middle fingers. The other 8 of my nails grow fine, healthy and strong, so it doesn't seem like it could be an issue with diet/nutrition. Yet, on the middle finger of each hand, I can barely get the nail past the edge of my finger. My best guess is that this is wear and tear, since that is the longest finger on the hand. Anyone have any suggestions on how to grow these nails?

  • Has anyone ever purchased travel packages through the-vacation-store.com?

If so, please tell me about your experience. I'm fairly confident that they are legit, as I've spoken to them and the hotel that I'm interested in (about them) and all seems to be in order, but I'm still hesitant.
