Although I do not actually carry a pocketbook (i need something that can fit in my back pocket without sticking out... I hate purses) however here's the usual for purses in general:

cash

credit cards

gum

pad/tampon

chapstick

pen

sticky notes

business cards

napkin or tissue

Lets see. Glasses either my sun or my regular depending on the weather. A bottle of water (because you just never know when one of those three hour tours will turn into twenty years), candy, gum, six pens, a highlighter, two pencils, brush, hand cream, nail file and clippers, lip balm, wallet full of identification, passport, analgesic, bandaids, ear phones, Meditation book, address book, calculator, small pad of paper, paperclips, safety pins, allergy medications, and some reeses pieces just in case. Book of matches, and three tie backs for my hair, in case I get hot and want to put it in a pony.

One lip-liner, two shades of lipstick, two shades of lip gloss, two pens, a Jay Strongwater compact, a small coin purse, a small wallet, credit cards, Blackberry AND cell phone, two sets of keys (no duplication), a Bluetooth (when not in my ear), some gum, some mint candy, some yogurt-covered fruit, address/appointment book, prayer booklet, nasal spray, tissue packet holder, sunglasses in sunglass case, regular glasses in eyeglass case . . . these are all I can think of off the top of my head because these are the "regular" contents of my purse.

I have my wallet (which contains some money, my Social Insurance cad, my library card, and my NDP card), some toothpicks, occasionally my cell phone, and a small notebook. I don't carry a purse very often.

I carry a big bag, and inside I have a few little bags (makeup type bags) to keep things seperate. One may have personal items, such as hand lotion, lip balm, eye drops, etc. Another may have actual makeup, and another have 'business' stuff like receipts, pens, cards etc.

In my purse I have a wallet that contains a checkbook for *my* checking account (I have my own so I can have my own eBay and PayPal accounts), pictures of me, my husband, and our son, credit cards, pen, maybe some money.

i for one carry lipgloss a small amount of cash my licence and debit card. however my mother has a big bag and keeps everything from lipsick, to a piece of paper she found to old kleenex and a dozen pens. anythiung she thinks she might need at any point and time of day.
