Who would you rather see make a million dollars a year, your kid's sports hero, or their teacher?

Seriously, this is so out of hand. Sports players making millions upon millions of dollars, and end up on drugs, in jail, whatever. Meanwhile, the person who's job is to be responsible for your child and their education makes just enough not to qualify for food stamps.

Until the NEA lets loose their stranglehold on the public education system, the teachers don't deserve a dime more. Children going to public schools are not getting a useful education, because the educators are more concerned with keeping their job at any cost and not about the education of the children in their charge. When we have a free-market, competition based education system, where there's some accountability, then the teachers will be paid a fair amount.

Well, honestly that's part of the capitalist society. Sports figures are prominent and companies want to associate their product with a prominant figure.

If there was some sort of public forum, like a competition for teachers, then there would be teachers who get shoe contracts depending how popular it was.

However, in the end the person truly responsible for your child and their education is you...not their teacher.

Also...look at China where the country is communist (where supposedly everyone is equal working towards the same goal)...they also revel in their movie stars, sports figures and celebrities. It's just a natural instinct to idolize people with great skill or beauty.
