Copy and paste answers?

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by people who just copy and paste answers to questions on here? I'm not talking about providing a link, i'm talking about LONG answers that you have to scroll WAY down the page to get past.

Honestly, it's someone elses work that people are taking credit for sometimes and we end up reading the exact same answer over and over again.

Is it just me who gets annoyed by this?

Yes, i get extremely annoyed by that. It's plagiarism! I was taught never to do that...not very nice to the author. Also, it would be much more helpful to just say: "Here's a helpful link" and provide the link itself. I'm sure many people know they can simply google for some answers but would like to hear about some other people's experiences.

I don't like the copy and paste answers either. Sometimes I will copy and paste a sentence, maybe 2, from a website that has the information the person is looking for. Then I include the link in the sources section. I don't see the point in copying the whole article. I usually just scroll down through those type of answers and give them a "thumbs down" rating. Otherwise, I generally enjoy reading what other people have to say.

People don't read the links, they ask the same question over and over and it's annoying. I don't know why people can't do their own research when they are asking for facts, but they don't.

I try only copy and paste the key points from the article though, I try to limit it to one small paragraph. Then I hope if it is what the person is looking for they will click the link. However I might paste from more than 10 articles, particularly if a bunch of ignorant people are answering with myths. Seriously if someone asks a factual question and you don't know, you've never gotten the information from a reliable source only your best friend's aunt's brother's friend don't even answer.

I get sick of people being told completely false things, like pregnant women can't eat honey.

The only time I copy and paste is if it is the same question I answered earlier in the day from someone else. Never very long, but I hate to retype the same thing about morning sickness over and over again. Other than something like that yes it gets on my nerves...

Nope, you're not the only one. :)

Providing a link will suffice, there is definitely no need to copy/paste a whole article.

That digs at me, too, man. To help emphasize my point, please read the following copy and pasted selection from Edgar Allen Poe's "The Bird, or whatever"......

    nah. just kidding.

No. It is not just you. It drives me crazy too! I think in those situations they should just provide a link. Just my opinion though!
