14 countries already qualified for Saturday's Final. 10 of them qualified by reaching a top-10 position in last year's Eurovision Song Contest Final, while the four biggest countries Germany, Spain, United Kingdom and France are automatically qualified for the Final. These four countries are the most important funding participants.

why were the decent countries kicked out...?
Eurovision was never a masterpiece of talent but it was fun.... now what is the point...? 2 predictable and political...
I think it should have been kept with all countries being allowed to compete.
your opinions!!
Hi Lobster...I know....I agree...its just that who can compete with such a large community...I personally found the Israel song to be one of the best - but thats politics!

Don't get your knickers in a twist, this is no longer a song contest, it is a political platform.

Last night's results confirm my initial response to this question.
It has to be said GB did no better than I expected from such an abysmal entry. The young lady originally chosen by Terry Wogan would have made a much better fist of it.

I think it would be impossible for all the European countries to compete, although (sad but true) I would love it if it were possible. However politics seems to have increasingly come to the fore in the past few years I think it is a shame, but unfortunately a way of the world. I just would love for some obscure European country to win for a change, so we can really feel proud!

Does it rather sound unusual that international locations that neighbour one yet another, who've close cultural ties might vote for another. eire and the united kingdom vote for another for all time, apart from final 365 days, yet basically the loopy Albanians voted for that dreadful music. To be truthful the main suitable music/overall performance won. Political vote casting for Russia seems mind-blowing pondering jap ecu international locations do not precisely love the undergo to the east that lots. additionally according to possibility if the united kingdom had a music in a diverse language it might pass greater because of the fact that different international locations make the attempt to sing in English.

Wow you know your stuff! I will be watching as I like terry wogans comments they make me laugh, I know that we wont win because everyone hates us. It is predictable because they just vote for the country next door but still its entertaining.

I know what you mean, but in some of those countries you'd start fights if you referred to them as being of "Russian origin", or as being Slavic.
The best got through though. My money's on Georgia...
