Should I go to a baby dedication or not?
It's my husband's cousin's daughter's dedication this Mother's Day. It's at a church that I do not enjoy. I love my church! And the non-traditional part of me does not understand the spiritual significance of dedications. But my MIL just made a big deal about.
Should I cave in once again do what they want, or just go to my church on Sunday?

Does it really kill you to go to this church just one Sunday to witness the dedication of a family member. Regardless of how you may feel about it, it must be important to the parent/parents of the child and I'm sure they would appreciate your support. I say give it a try!

I think the right thing would be to go and try your best to enjoy it. Would you rather swallow your pride and go and keep the peace, or not go and piss someone off (you know it will)? I know it sucks, I've been in that controlling in law situation many times in the past but I had to look at the bigger picture and do what made life easier in the long run.

If water wasn't poured on you on an identical time as somebody reported "I baptize you interior the call of the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit," then you definately are actually not considered baptized. toddler dedications take the region of toddler baptism in church buildings that don't think in it. the two ceremonies function initiations into the non secular community, yet in basic terms one has a "sacramental" element to it.
