How far dialated were you when you went into labor?

I was just wondering what the doctor had told you at your last appoinment before you went into labor. I am only at 1.5cm, 60% effaced and baby is at -1station. I am 39 weeks 2 days. I am wondering if this means I will go past my due date possibly. Were any of you only at a 1 and still went into labor? THanks so much!

Update:

Thanks ladies! Now I am not so discouraged! lol I need to try and be more positive. Maybe he acctually will come out of there! lol

I was not dilated at all actually. My doctor checked me and told me "looks like I'll be seeing you next week". The next day, my water broke, and less than 2 days later my son was born.

I was at the doctor the day I went in to labor. I was only 70% effaced and not dialated at all and my doctor told me I had a week or more before anything else would happen. 8 hours later I started contractions. I went at 37 1/2 weeks

The last appt. for me was 4 days before I delivered and I was only 1.5 cm and I can't remember how effaced I was, but I had lost the plug. When I went to the hospital in labor, I was 39 wks 6 days and I was 7 CM!! So no worries, your current dilation really doesn't hold any meaning to when you will go into labor. I was actually 1 cm dilated for two or three weeks, if I remember correctly.

I was induced but you can absolutely start labor at nothing more than fingertip dilation. And the 2nd time around, you can go from zero to 10 in a matter of minutes!

By the way, being at -1 station is fantastic progress. Might mean that you won't have to push very long when the time comes! Good luck!

I was dialated to 3 for over 2 months before I went into labor and I was 80% effaced. One of my friends was only dialted to 1.5 when she began labor though

I was 1cm and I believe (I don't remember for sure) 50% effaced at my last appointment. But we decided at that appointment that I was fine to be induced. So two days later I was induced and had a beautiful 7lb 4oz baby girl. I was 38 weeks 5 days along.

My guess is it won't be long for you. Try walking around alot. That is what actually brought on my labor after being induced. We went to Walmart and walked around.

you can go into labor at any time. most woman start dialating at the 9 months it does not mean you will go into labor sooner or later than your due date. Your baby will come out when it is ready. just be pataince

I wasn't... I dilated mutually as in hard paintings. it took some hours to get contractions 5 minutes aside yet as quickly as that surpassed off I went to the scientific institution and that i advance into basically 1cm and a hundred% effaced and it basically took approximately 5 hrs to get to 10 cm and push my toddler out

I went for my 37 week check up and they told me I was 4cm dialated and 100% effaced. They told me I was going to have him that day.

my child birth teacher (a doula for 30 years) told us that dialation isnt the only method to see when the baby is coming.....eventhough your 1.5 cm dialated the baby is moving since he/she is engaged -1.....walk walk and walk to move that baby down even more and as he/she moves dialtion and effacement will as well! good luck!
