How much would it cost to replace my 2 ton a/c unit in my home?
I live in a 1800 sq. ft. home and it is 14 years old. The air has finally died. I have been given an estimate to replace both the outside and inside labor and all. I want to see if I am getting a ood deal.

Of course this all depends on what brand/warranty and such you were given. I'd go with a reputible company. An AC unit is a large purchase so make sure you are well-versed in the terminology. There are probably 4 actual manufactureres of AC units, so watch out for brands that have other names. Trane was purchased by American Standard, Carrier/Bryant, Tappan/Frigidaire, Goodman/Janitrol...these are all interchangeable. A 2 ton unit estimate can vary as much as $3000 if the house has to come up to currenty city codes along with new duct work, electrical, etc. You are probably looking between $3000 - $6000. Also, do not purchase a used unit!!!!

depending on the brand you choose you should have a reputable company do it as alot of companies do not do the extra little things that make an install last,ie: pull the system into a complete vacuum before trying to charge it or install a drier. but an answer to your question for a complete system between 4 and 7 thousand depending on the S.E.E.R. rating industry minimum is 13 S.E.E.R.
