in the bible If one day stands for 1,000 years?
and Jesus is suposed to return in 2,000 years. Isn't that like 200,000 years in translation? Or did I misinterpret it?

Well then. If it's 2,000 years, that would be 730,500 days, which would be 730,500,000 years. So.. We have quite some time left.. Blackjack anyone? ^.^
Edit: To Luci - You got 730,000,000 years because you didn't take in to account that a year is 365.25 days. Every four years we add a day to the end of February.

Yes you are misinterpreting it but only cause you dont have all the pieces of the puzzle.
1000 years earth time=1 day eternity time
104 hours earth time= 1 second eternity time
The bible makes no mention when Jesus will return other than after the great tribulation according to Matthew 24. My understanding is there has to be a third Jewish Holy temple at least partly built if not completely built in order for animal sacrifices to begin this is needed so that prophecies in Daniel and Revelation be fullfilled. So if you some how manage to survive the first 3 1/2 years of tribulation to where you see a rebuilt Jewish temple and you have the AntiChrist declare himself to be God you have approx. 3 1/2 years which will be the "great tribulation" till Jesus returns.
The sobering thing is that 66%- 75% of the earths population is going to die. Before Jesus physically returns to earth.

To say that 1 year is as a thousand years is of course metaphorical, and not an exact calculation. It just means to show that God, being eternal, sees time differently than we do. And what may seem like a long time to us, is but a blink of an eye to God.
I do not see anywhere in the Bible that claims that Jesus is to return in 2000 years. In fact, it is quite clear that no one knows the time of the return.

All that means is that we can never know the timing of His coming and that after our earthly lives, time has to relevance. And, no this doesn't not disporve the end of thw world not happening soon. There are many signs that it can be very soon and I hope it is.
Oh, and since 1,000 years equals 1 day, then 2,000 years could mean 2 days. So that destroys the theory that He won't come and it shows that He could come anytime.

The Bible NEVER says that Jesus is supposed to return in 2000 years.
Matthew 24: 36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

You did, indeed, mis-interpret.
Where is it written (in a reliable source) that Jesus would return in 2,000 years?
BTW Although 1,000 years to us, is like 1 day to God, that does not mean He refuses to take into account our counting system. He knows how we view things and is willing to adapt.

The meaning of that phrase is that God can not be fitted into the human category of time. That´s why one minute is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a minute. It means that God ,- being eternal and the creator of all things- doesn´t have our concept of time.
As for the coming of Christ ,we don´t know the day or the hour.

You misinterpreted it. 2000 years would be two days to God, according to the passage you are quoting. And the Bible never says when Christ is supposed to come back.

"A day with the Lord is a thousand years and a thousand years but a day"
What that means is God lives outside time and space.Time is relevant to only us eartbound.Time is because of the rotation of the earth ,gravity and such.God told Abraham his descendants were going to Egypt for 450 years.During that time he was giving the Canaanites and Amorites all that time to repent of their disgusting ways(Canabalism, child sacrifice ,regular beastiality etc etc). Before that ,he gave man 120 years to repent when Noah was building the Ark.After the crucifixtion he gave only 40 years before he destroyed Jerusalem. So that's a lot of time for us but a blink of an eye for him.

Actually, the Hebrew word interpreted as "day" in English Bibles actually is properly translated as "eon" or "era." So, the earth is supposedly created in a series of six eons or eras, not literal 24-hour days.
