Have a local chimney professional come out to look at your chimney. You can find one at the Chimney Safety Institute's website www.csia.org. Take a look at the local professionals website to make sure that they perform repairs and not just sweep chimneys. Make sure that whomever you hire knows chimneys. I see all too often, homeowners hiring a tuck pointer or mason that doesn't know about chimneys. They can handle the repairs, but do not solve the problems.

Well, this is the time when you will need a professional chimney cleaning team. Actually chimney cleaning is the most vital aspect of a chimney as it requires a regular maintenance. This chimney cleaning includes a three phase process in which inspecting, cleaning and installation of chimney is included.

This is something that's best left up to an expert. It depends on the codes in your area, the type of heat you have, What do you use in the chimney, gas, wood? the fuel, heating oil or several variations.
You may need a liner, a metal liner, etc. Call the experts in. they'll also know the codes and be licensed and bonded.
