A good method/product for thick skin removal on the soles of your feet?

I have been in a cast for 51/2 weeks now, and hopefully it will come off on Wednesday. What I can see of my toes and the ball of my foot has this really thick, dry, flakey layer. I have a pumice stone, but this stuff looks really bad. Any suggestions?

Why not treat yourself to a professional pedicure? It would be much simplier than trying to pull off the twist on your leg required to buff off the sole of the foot, especially since the muscles of the lower leg will have lost some tone while you were in the cast. Celebrate seeing your foot again and treat yourself to a matching polish job, seeing as summer is upon us, it's a nice way to step into it- sans cast of course.

I would soak them in warm water first, then gently use a pumice stone. Then cover them in sorbelene or vitamin E cream and put a sock over. This is only if the skin is intact and not broken.
