Good grief people - she didn't ask your opinions about her current tattoo, if she should get another or opinions about where. Just thoughts on a design.

Designs and what someone should get are so incredible personal and since I don't know you, I'm not going to throw out any suggestions.

All I do want to say is, you'll be totally fine getting one in that spot - don't worry about the pain.

And congrats on turning 40. That will be me in December. You've picked a great way to honor your birthday. If you really, really want something original, go to your artist and discuss some ideas.

    Good luck!

You should be putting more thought into what you're putting on your body forever, than asking people online.

But don't go with the Chinese scripts. First, you can't read them, and often times they are written badly. Second, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO WRITE ENGLISH NAMES IN CHINESE BECAUSE CHINESE DOESN'T HAVE AN ALPHABET. Finally, if you want something original, avoid Chinese scripts at all costs. Everyone and their mother has them, and most of them have no idea what they say. It's offensive to Chinese culture, and unwise to get something on your body that you can't read.

No Chinese calligraphy- you don't know if the artist has labelled you as a dim-sum for two with lychees for the rest of your life! Don't get anything off the flash wall at the studio- find an artistic friend to design something for you.

If you don't know what to have done- DO NOT GET A TATTOO. You'll pick something out and come to regret it later.

Source(s): I've got eight original tattoos that I designed myself... and plans for more!

everybody has chinese scrips these days go for something that means something special to you like a date or something or something like hearts intwined but beware it hurts a lot on the spine much more than anywhere else you could always keep the winnie the pooh theme going or maybe a fluffy white polar bear but in the end its your choice so choose well

forget the nay-sayers, get what you want, where you want. Get your ink for YOU, not them.

My wife has a tribal styled dragon fly there. very sexy, the wings curve up over her buttocks. I like tats that follow natural curves and lines of the body. I would suggest something unique, no purely tribal or chinese, too common.

you might want to have a central immage, like a lily or sunfower, with a tribal style green vine or leaf design. A sharp downward point and two 'wings' curving up accentuate the feminine curves of that area.

I've seen some beautiful black celtic designs that curl over towards your hips, with a flower in the centre. My fave was a lily with lots of detail of the spots on the petals

oh lord! i just got one done on the bottom of my spine (middle of my back) yesterday. it hurt sooooo frickn bad! and, i have 3 other tattoo's too. one on the back of my neck, one on my stomach, and the other on my lower right hip. basically, just be ready for the pain. it's all nerves on that spot. anyway, you should get a tattoo that describes/represents you. i just got the word believe with a halo and angel wings above it. really small, but super feminine and represents the loss of my dad, and "believing" that he is watching over me. you can do something like that?

I have 2 cute paw prints on bottom of my spine which i think looks fab and always get comments about it, but i chose it coz i love dogs. Maybe think about something you love or are interested in and put it into a tattoo.

chinese letters are not original, they are common and nasty, and so are tiggers! Sorry, but that's my opinion. You should have a good look on a few on line tattoo sites, they might give you an idea of what you might like. I think it's always good to have a reason behind it, like my friend has a pheonix on her back above her heart to signify falling in love again after the death of her husband five years ago, it means something very special to her.

Also, I have a script across my foot that means alot to me, and a few others and they all have such deep meaning.
