Isn't attributing Satan to a non-believer's good fortune just sour grapes and jealousy?
See this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApzA0...
Some of what people replied sounds like the kinda crud the church used to tell the peasants in the middle ages to keep them under control, and unambitious so they could feel good about their crappy lives.
So Wiki - do you actually believe that Satan runs around handing out material goods to people who reject the Abrahamic God?
Esther - someone's gotta ask the question. And don't talk down to me like I'm your intillectual inferior. I actually do learn quickly - which is why I'm asking the questions that make people like you want to attack my intelligence.
James - I think we can make the judgment that I can't spell the word intellectual (I always screw that one up), but beyond that - I have no clue what you're talking about.
Bert - see, that sounds like an excuse to me. An excuse that explains why not everyone (especially the poor and downtrodden) has a "blessed" life. It's almost too convenient, don't you think? Oh - if you're Christian and you've done well for yourself and your life seems the ideal, then you've been blessed by God. If you're Christian and your life is unstable and full of tragedy, then that could be God punishing you or trying to make you stronger. If you're non-Christian and your life is good, you're being rewarded by the devil and the Abrahamic God has turned his back on you. And if you're a non-Christian and suffering a turbulent life that's God's way of telling you to change your ways. So the explanations are very convenient based on the circumstance...
7/3/73 - So what you're saying is that if you do things for others unselfishly it is not necessarily a trait only Christians have. Because you're right - I agree with you. I've met non-believers who had done well for themselves and who give selflessly to others. So now is when the Christian would step in and put on the stipulation that they would have had to accepted Jesus or these people are still considered crap and not righteous at all.

The definition of "good fortune" differs between the spiritual and non-believer. Living in a manner, applying deduced logic, for the purpose of positive growth and love is called RIGHTEOUSNESS. It may appear that in today's world, that the evil and deceptive people achieve notoriety, wealth and power. This isnt gifts from satan, it is results of pursuing selfishly. All of a spiritual persons goals and dreams can be attained through the pursuit of righteousness., also. The goals and dreams possible, however, exceed the levels of petty worldly individual profits. This, and only this, leads to longer, healthier lives of stress free happiness.
Suffering occurs due to our disconnection from the righteous spirituality. If you worship money or become addicted to the consumption of selfish unrighteous pleasures, then you will suffer through the strain of acquiring it. You will suffer further when you do not or cannot acquire it. The suffering will be everlasting because you are always trying to acquire more or "keep up with the Jones" . It is common for the rich and famous to finally realize the importance of spiritual righteousness after their quest for wealth leaves them feeling increasingly unfulfilled. Worldly wealth evidently can not soothe the spirit. They soon begin to do all types of charitable acts to show UNSELFISH LOVE. Love is an ACTION that can be performed by everyone regardless of their income. This is the key aspect of true righteousness.
…RIGHTEOUS work means helping those in Desperate NEED, whom suffer Most and possess Least…

The Bible says that God brings His rain on the evil and the good. The difference is that the good acknowledge that their blessings come from God. Evil people sometimes even get away with things that believers won't because God chastens us because we are His children , so He punishes us to get us back into line. The unbeliever will just sail on through without being chastised because they do not belong to God. But make no mistake about it, God loves to bless His children and give them the desires of their hearts. He is a good and loving Father!!

Actually, I think you mean attributing the good fortune to Satan (or satanic influences), not the other way around. And yes, it's sour grapes and envy. (Envy and jealousy are two different things, by the way.) It's also not Christian doctrine, as I understand it. They are supposed to do more the "the bigger they are the harder they fall" explanations, and argue that God is pumping the person up for a big fall.

Some people blame the Devil for what they themselves do. In contrast, the bible shows that humans oftne bear much of the blame for the badness they experience, whether at the hands of other humans or as a result of their own conduct. Eccl. *:9; gal. 6:7 Yet, the bible does not leave us ignotant of the existence and devices of the superhuman foe who has brought so much greif to mankind. It shows how we can get out from under his control.

Yay!!! Someone, at least, knows the origin of Satan. His looks were based on the Pagan God Pan. Just another way of turning society against those pesky Pagans. Pan is known as a trickster but not evil. As for sour grapes..? Absolutely along with anything else not happening the way you want it to. "The Devil made me do it!"

Your question and remarks can be concluded at judgment. Do you object to fruit inspectors. What do you call ill gotten gain? Or , is it no ones business what anybody does. According to your belief system--these people have done a good work. Are you not of Satan? as you say on your page
I can best be described as a dark pagan and my path can best be described as soft polytheistic

I am not sure what you are asking, but satan hates everyone ebrn those that follow him. Sometimes he will help his people but usually he will hang them out to dry.
