Use condoms.

There is a mini-pill you can take. The problem is though that you have to take it the exact same time every single day. If you forget more than 15 minutes from the time, then you have to use back up for a while. Ive heard IUDs are good if you don't plan on having another child for a couple of years. Diaphrams are also recommended although some women don't like the planning feeling, like you need to know in advance and prepare. I have just been practicing abstinence, which my hubby isn't happy about. Research has shown that the diaphram is less effective than the withdrawel method, which is the method we use if by chance we do have sex. Not so great for anybody though, so I wouldn't really recommend it. I was great with regular birth control pills, but the mini pill was a turn off because of the time. So i would say maybe the diaphram with foam would be better. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. When breastfeeding, your options are limited - i'm with you there.

It is safe to only go with a birth control that has progestin. Estrogen can decrease your milk supply. I took the mini pill after my first child.

I am getting a IUD this time after I have my child. It can be left in for 5 years or taken out before then. Its put in once and you only have to get it checked when you have your yearly pap. There are small strings that are close to your uterus so that it can be pulled out when ready. That's the only thing that a man could feel of it.

The depo shot I was on before I had my first child. It caused me to have lumps in my breast. They eventually left after a year of me being off the shot, but they returned when I was pregnant with my first child. No other problems though I didn't gain weight or anything.

Condoms are the safest. Never depend on breastfeeding alone. The dr will tell you that. It is said that you can't get pregnant while you are exclusively breastfeeding but the chance is not high at all.

I would talk to your OBGYN. There ARE birth control pills that are considered safe to tale while nursing although I personally still didn't feel comfortable using them.

As for breastfeeding being a birth control, it can be for some but not for everyone. I used it for my birth control but I knew that it wasn't foolproof. I didn't mind though when I got pregnant again. I got my period back after 1 year of nursing and got pregnant the next month. Usually as long as you don't get your period back when breastfeeding you are not ovulating therefor you are safe. I believe the general rule for using breastfeeding as contraceptive is you must be doing it like 8-12 times a day still.

im on a form of birthcontrol that you get in a shot in the lower part of your back...like where your love handles are...its called Depo Provera. you go every 3 months to get it. the first time you get the shot you have to wait 30 days before having sex again. it stings a little and is sore for a little while but if your not wanting another kid anytime soon...i think that the depo provera is the way to go. BUT...there are a few bad things that come along with the shot. it tricks your body into thinking that is pregnant so you can have morning sickness weight gain and mood swings. i havent had the weight gain YET but every morning i get a little sick and i do have mood swings sometimes. well hope i helped you out! good luck and congrats on the upcoming baby!!! oh by the way...i WOULD NOT go with pills cuz my best friend who is 18 now had a baby when she was 17 and she was on the pill. its no where as close to being as effective as the shot. and no the shot isnt permenent.

First of all Breastfeeding is not a birth control even your doctor will tell you that. Yes, there is birth control that you can take while you are breastfeeding. The best way to find out which is best for you is to talk to your doctor.

only condoms. not even diaphrams because the spermicide on them can effect breast milk. use condoms without spermicide. birth control pills? hell no!!!
