is it legal to shoot a welshman in lincolnshire?
for years we have been teasing a welsh friend about how it is still legal, at certain times of the year, to shoot a welshman with a bow and arrow in lincolnshire.
this being an ancient law which has never been repealed.
we have never actually authenticated this though, and i was wondering if anybody could?

No. The City of Lincoln has a Welsh Saint, Saint Hugh. Killing or wounding a Welshman in Lincoln or Lincolnshire is punishable by hanging drawing and quartering. This is the order and law of King Henry V [the Welsh King of England].
Lincoln also has the Welsh colour Green, as in Lincoln Green to show it's support for Wales and the Welsh King.
The Long Bow is a Welsh weapon which was first used in war at the Battle of Agincourt. King Henry V had 1,000 Welsh archers from Wales. When the King ordered "loose arrows", the archers released about 10,000 arrows into the air within the first minute.
The English infantry marched forward and slew the Armee of France. French nobles were dragged from their horses by the Welsh archers and smashed to death while still in their armour by the heavy hammers carried by the Welsh.
Your target is the French and not the Welsh. The British comprise the English and the Welsh and no one else. If you are not of either race, then you are not British.
God Save the King.

It may be soon the way things are going with each country being independent. We could then revive some of the old laws and any welsh people who wander out of Wales could be fair game!

no sorry, it is an old law but it won't stand up in court.
There are loads of old laws regarding wild boar hunting and similary shoot scotsmen at certain time of the year.
But your friend can rest easy as it is an outdated law.

To the best of my knowledge you can shoot him if he is " worrying " sheep. However the law deems it necessary that the sheep be owned by you.
