Is it just me, or do all pregnant women...?

get absent minded and "blonde"? (no offense blondes, thats just a figure of speech) I am 27 weeks pregnant and I am so forgetful. My husband has been teasing me about it ever since I realized I was using hairspray instead of spray deodorant on my body!

Let me know if you've experienced this absent mindedness. And I'd love to have some stories to share with my husband to show him it's not just me.

Thanks ladies!

OH yes it is a proven fact that womens brains do not function as well when they are pregnant!! LOL I have had my share of OMG's with each and every one of my pregnancies....very simple things most of the time like..why am I in the pantry again?, or what did I come to the store for?, even Where in the heck did I put that down I had it in my hand a second ago...given we all do this some of the time, but mine has become an everyday multiple times a day problem! LOL

YES! This does happen. I got really absentminded when normally I am on the ball. Just wait until the baby comes and all of your brain cells go out with the placenta. My sister and cousins have dubbed this "Placenta Brain". We all have it and it lasts for a while. It's hard to put your finger on why you get so forgetfull and stupid (in no way do I imply that new moms are stupid). Things that seemed so easy and natural continually gets messed up. I can't recall a specific incident but you can tell your husband that this condition is not isolated to you!

I was always like that I used to be the best at remembering things and then my husband opened the freezer and noticed blown up eggs in there. It was pretty embarrassing to me. I never knew eggs blew up if they were frozen. lol. oh then later thank god I noticed but I found the milk where the cereal was and the cereal in the fridge. I loved cereal while pregnant. Sad thing is my son is 9 months now and I seem to still have the thinking and remembering problem.

I would get interrupter and I would forget what I was talking about or what I had just said. I would constantly walk into a room and forget why I wanted to be there, I would back to where I was and try to remember and would still not remember. I couldn't remember anything. I kept saying that my daughter was sucking the life out of my brain! LOL

  • Yes, babies tend to do this to you. It didn't get any better for me after my kids were born (2 yrs and 9 mos). I'm so absent-minded I can't remember any good stories! I've called people and forgotten why I called them even before they answered. I can't remember the things I need to get at the store, even when I take a list.

Well yes. And here's a story you can share with your hubby:

About 2 weeks ago [I was about 19 weeks preggo], I took a friend of mine to the grocery store. As we were walking up to the car after checking out, I was rummaging in my purse for my car keys & I just looked at my friend and said "Omg, I don't have my keys" - They were in the ignition! I totally forgot to take them out when I went into the store, my fiance was not very happy with me [it's his car].

Haha, yeah I act alot more "blonde" since becoming pregnant :o)

It takes me 2 hours to make a simple grocery list and once I was stopped at a STOP sign waiting for it to turn green. Some times I get up to do something then stand and stare into space wondering why the hell I got up in the first place. lol...it's not just you. Oh yeah...one more thing. I forgot to pay every bill for 1 month...we're catching up though!

I´m 39 Weeks and still forgetful... lol It really sucks !!!

Many pregnant women say their short-term memory isn't up to par during pregnancy, particularly during their first and third trimesters.

It certainly seems to make sense: In your first trimester, you may be distracted by thoughts about this new adventure you're beginning or worries about your baby's health, as well as exhausted and nauseated from the hormonal changes you're undergoing. During your third trimester, you may be overwhelmed or just plain distracted by the huge life changes you're about to experience and again exhausted if you're having trouble getting a good night's sleep.

Research on pregnancy and memory is limited, so no one knows for sure what's really going on. While some studies have found evidence of verbal and memory deficits during pregnancy, others have shown that pregnant women actually do just as well in cognitive tests as women who aren't pregnant.

One study found that pregnant women did experience a decline in memory, but only in the third trimester. Interestingly, in a different study, pregnant women rated themselves as having performed worse than they would have before pregnancy, even though they tested just as well as a group that wasn't pregnant. So if you think you're flakier than usual while you're pregnant, it may just be your perception.

lol, yes that is norml. I am 17 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and have had the same thing all three times. My biggest thing is my youngest son is one and almost every time we leave the house I keep forgeting the diaper bag... After carrying it for over a year now, you'd think its would be habit, lol...

Yes. It's normal. I read about it in a book or magazine while I was pregnant. I think it has something to do with hormones or maybe that the blood is flowing more to the uterus than to your head? I can't remember exactly the reasoning but I do know it's normal.
